Summary
Despite 2023 likely being the last full year before theNintendo Switchis replaced, there’s a strong argument to be made that the console is having its best year yet.Tears of the KingdomandSuper Mario Bros. Wonderwill go down as two of the biggest games in series that have both been around for more than 35 years, and that really is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s also more to come fromNintendobefore the end of 2023, including a double pack that includes copies of Mario Wonder andPikmin 4.
Reported byNintendoSoup, and currently listed for sale onYobodashi, the double pack will include both hit games and also come with original stickers. It will presumably have some unique box art too, but that hasn’t been shown off just yet. As you may well have pieced together for yourselves by this point, there is some bad news. The double pack is currently only listed for sale in Japan, and as of right now, there’s no indication it will be available anywhere else.
If the double pack does end up being sold in the US, you can probably expect it to be a little bit more expensive than it is in Japan. Mario Wonder alone is $60 so my guess is the double pack will be at least $100.
Retailing for 12,490 yen - which is less than $84 so an incredibly good price considering the two games in the bundle - Yobodashi has the double pack shipping on December 6. The perfect holiday gift for the Switch owner in your life who has games to catch up on in what has been a very busy year. There’s still hope the double pack will be released elsewhere, but my guess is the pack has been put together for Japan specifically due to Pikmin 4’s popularity there.
Nintendo has confirmed Pikmin 4 is now the best-selling installment in the series, and it seems a lot of its success has been in Japan. As Switch owners turn to Wonder for the holidays, bundling it with Pikmin 4, and for such a reasonable price, is a very clever way to keep that wave of momentum for the revived series going through the end of 2023. I’m sure that would work if the bundle were sold elsewhere too, but we’ll have to wait and see if it pops up anywhere else.
While you wait for the double pack to potentially go on sale in the US, there are plenty of other Nintendo deals and bundles you will be able to take advantage of stateside. Nintendo has confirmeda Super Smash Bros. Ultimate OLED Switch bundle is coming, and thata number of its bigger titles will be heavily reducedfrom November 19, just in time for Black Friday.
