The third and finalFinal Fantasy 14Fan Festival will take place in Japan this weekend. We’re about to get a deluge of exciting new information about the upcoming Dawntrail expansion, as well as a lot more FOMO from not being there in person.
For most of us, we’ll be eagerly waiting for the news to get posted online as it gets announced in Japan, and I can’t help but wonder already what sort of details Square Enix will spill. Here are my predictions:

Green Mage Reveal
It’s safe to say we’ll finally get to know what Dawntrail’s other new job role will be, andgiven the hints in patch 6.5, it’s likely going to be Green Mage. We haven’t seen Green Mage used heavily in the series before now, having only featured in one mainline title, Final Fantasy 12. Other than that, it has only appeared in spin-off games.
It’s interesting because the FF14 team can mould Green Mage into a fresh new take on the role, so even if we can guess with some certainty that it’ll be Green Mage, the way the job role will work is still a complete mystery. Or, you know, the clover could have been a red herring (or green herring, if you will) and maybe the new caster job will be completely different.

New Lifestyle Content Reveal
This is all but certain, as Yoshida mentioned at the London Fan Festival that the team initially wanted to unveil some new lifestyle content there, but as it wasn’t quite ready, it would instead be revealed at the Japan Fan Festival. Unless something has delayed progress, we should finally be getting a peek! What could possibly be as exciting as the Island Sanctuary?
Benchmark And Launch Date Reveal
We’ll likely get one, if not both, of the dates for the benchmark and full launch of Dawntrail. I’m not particularly looking forward to seeing my PC struggle to meet the minimum requirements, but I guess it’s a good excuse for an upgrade. Knowing the launch date means I can get my annual leave booked sooner rather than later, too.
Collector’s Edition Reveal
I’mdreadingthe inevitable rush to purchase the Dawntrail Collector’s Edition from the Square Enix store before it sells out. I already know I will definitely be buying it despite not knowing what it contains and that they’re often overpriced, as I’ve committed to it now. I’ve bought every Collector Edition from 1.0 through to Endwalker, and I can’tnothave a complete set this far in, right?
I hope we get the reveal of what will be within the Collector Edition this weekend. We’ve had a plastic statuette for each expansion, so who will it be this time? The last two were of Meteor in new job roles, so let’s mix it up a bit and go back to getting something more unique, like Stormblood’s Zenos or Heavensward’s Midgardsormr statuettes.

Female Hrothgar Reveal
We’re way overdue this now, surely? We’ve had our bunny boys, so now it’s time to get our leonine lasses. Understandably, adding in new character models takes a lot of work as the dev team has to ensure all equipment can apply properly to them (well, most equipmentwhen it comes to Viera and Hrorthgar). Still, I think it’s safe to say that we should be getting female Hrothgar as part of Dawntrail, considering the male Viera came with Endwalker.
More Information On The New Limited Job
At the London Fan Festival, producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that another limited job would be coming in the 7.X series following the launch of Dawntrail. The team might hold onto this information for longer, given it’s not part of the expansion’s launch, but there’s still a chance we’ll see something, even if we don’t get a full reveal. I’m stillhoping it’ll be Puppetmaster.
More Dawntrail Location And Duty Reveals
It’s notasexcitingas some of the big reveals, but we’ll get a bunch more screenshots and clips of additional areas, duties, and other content. I’m putting this on here just to ensure I getat least oneprediction right, and I can’t go wrong with this one.
I also hope we get something surprising that no one expects, some new content we didn’t envision being added. Some of the best surprises from the London Fan Festival were the unguessable ones, likethe Vana’diel-themed raid series. Of course, we all still enjoyed the reveals that we predicted, like the Final Fantasy 16 crossover event. Just a few more days and we’ll know a lot more.
