Quan Chi’s gameplay trailer is finally here, giving us a taste of how the returning character’s moves have been worked intoMortal Kombat 1. He fights alongside a new Kameo fighter, Khameleon, who is returning to the series for the first time since 2006.

Quan Chi will join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster on December 14, with Khamleon not tagging along until this January. You can see the pair in the trailer below, showcasing their new moves.

In Quan Chi’s case, we also get to see some of his pre-fight banters with other fighters. Of course,NetherRealmcouldn’t help itself and had to chuck in a Deadly Alliance joke when he fights Shang Tsung. At the very end, we even get a sneak peek at Peacemaker through one of these exchanges, as he says he’s doing to beat Quan Chi senseless.

In terms of his fighting style, the sorcerer has a lot of magic at his disposal. It seems to be great at keeping his foes at a distance, as when someone gets too close, he tags Khameleon in to deal with them.

While fans will be pleased to see a returning character in Mortal Kombat 1, the game’s monetisation has been controversial at every turn. This has ranged fromcomplaints about an overalllack of content and featurestothe pricing of skins.

As for Khameleon, she seems to use abilities inspired by the other ninja women in the series. Of note, in one clip she turns green and attacks with a pole, clearly a reference to Jade, who hasn’t appeared in the game yet. She has been mentioned, however, so this might imply that she’ll join the roster further down the line. In any case, Khameleon will not become a Kameo this year and is being held back until January. She doesn’t have a more specific release date than this just yet.

Quan Chi is the second DLC fighter to join Mortal Kombat 1,following on from Omni-Man. After this, if the tease at the end of the trailer means anything, we’re probably getting Peacekeeping, keeping it in the pattern of getting a guest fighter and a returning character one after the other. Assuming this is the case, we’ll get either Takeda or Ermac next, and Homelander last. That would make sense, as Homelander would be joining the roster closer to The Boys season 4’s release date, which will be at some point next year.

Regardless, Quan Chi launches in less than two weeks. Anyone with the fighter pass will get access to the character as soon as he launches, otherwise, he’ll have to be bought separately.
