Mortal Kombat 1is finally adding pre-match intro dialogue to fights outside of versus battles in Invasions' third season, months after the game’s launch.
Despite being praised as one of the best-playingMortal Kombat games out there, Mortal Kombat 1 had a pretty rough launch that angered a lot of fans.Although we’ve talked at length about some of the bigger issues like the “predatory” item shopand heavy grind for unlockables, another issue that fans had was all the missing and tweaked features that were present in previous games.
Perhaps the biggest missing feature that annoyed fans was how intro dialogues were handled. Ever since Mortal Kombat X, pre-match banter between fighters has become a beloved staple of NetherRealm games, something thatdidreturn in Mortal Kombat 1. However, those intro dialogues could only be encountered when fighting online or in an offline versus battle, as they were strangely completely absent from Towers battles and the Invasions mode.
Considering Invasions and Towers take up most of your single-player time in Mortal Kombat 1, players weren’t happy that they had to go to another mode altogether or play online more often in order tohear characters insult each other and share information about their backgrounds. Since then, it’s become one of the most requested features to be able to hear them at other points in the game, something NetherRealm has finally confirmed is coming.
Mortal Kombat 1 players also weren’t happy about the length of the pre-match conversations, as they’ve been reduced from three lines to two. That’s not been fixed in the update, but at least we’re one step closer to greatness.
Yesterday,NetherRealm hosted a Kombat Kast that showed off gameplay for Quan-Chi and Khameleon, the next two fighters joining the main and Kameo roster respectively. Before revealing how the two function, the developers went into detail on what’s being added to the game alongside season three of Invasions.
One of the first points that is raised during the Kombat Kast is that intro dialogues are finally coming to Tower battles, meaning that players can finally hear all of those funny character moments and references without having to jump in and out of Versus mode. Pre-match banter isn’t just coming to Towers, either, as it was also confirmed that intros can now be found in “mini-bosses, major bosses, and Titan fights”, which means that you’ll hear them throughout Invasions too.
