While dealing with the mind flayer invasion, one of the more engaging aspects ofBaldur’s Gate 3are the romances. Every origin companion has one, and each brings out a different side of the character that you otherwise wouldn’t see. Lae’zel is no exception, and her romance greatly impacts your story.
While she may be prickly, there are layers to Lae’zel’s character that are only revealed as you follow through with her personal quest. There are also many choices that impact how she grows and what sort of ending you’ll receive. It’s well worth the effort to follow through with Lae’zel and save the Sword Coast.

How To Gain Approval With Lae’zel
Lae’zelcan be difficult to raise aproval with, especially if you like to explore and complete side quests. She doesn’t want to delay removing the parasite, anddetours will lower her approval.
The best way tobuild rapport with Lae’zeland gain her approval is toside with her. This includes:
It should be mentioned that, like many origin companions,Lae’zel doesn’t like sharing. Once you are in a committed relationship with her,she will break up with youif youpursue other romance options.
This is not affected if you romance characters like Minthara before romancing Lae’zel.

How To Romance Lae’zel In Act One
To begin your relationship with Lae’zel,you’ll have to raise approval. You’ll know you’ve done so when you canask Lae’zel if she’s looking at you differently.
She’s quick tomake her intentions known, and don’t dare rebuke her or you’ll find thatshe won’t ask again.
you may still romance Lae’zel if youside with the goblins, but youwon’t get the scene during the celebrationat camp.
To trigger the scene, you canspeak with her again a day or two afterthe celebration.
When she comes to you,do as she says. If you’re confident in your skills,you can take the leadfor a slightly different scene, but they both end similarly.
It’s very much advised that on the way to Act Two, youtake the Mountain Passand visit the monastery.
Following Lae’zel’s personal quest willbuild approval and impact your ending.
How To Romance Lae’zel In Act Two
In Act Two, if you’vemaintained a steady approvalwith Lae’zel,she’ll approach you one nightduring a long rest. She can’t get you off her mind andchallenges you to a duel.
Don’t worry about hurting Lae’zel and wasting resources. The long rest will restore hit points and spell slots as needed.
Win or lose, Lae’zel realizes how muchshe wants to stay with you. You can respond in two ways:
These optionsultimately further your relationship, so long as you don’t break it off.
What To Do About Voss
In Act Two, if you visited the monastery andencountered the githyanki creche,Voss will appearand try topersuade you to join himagainst Vlaakith. It’s best to side with him, though you have until Act 3 toconvince Lae’zel to take a side.
How To Romance Lae’zel In Act Three
Before you can trigger Act Three’s scene, you’ll need toprogress further with Lae’zel’s personal quest.
This includesobtaining theOrphic Hammerandfreeing Lae’zel from Orin, if she is kidnapped.
Once again,Lae’zel will wake you upin the middle of a long rest. She has something to show you, and takes you to the rooftops.
Here, she tells you howshe sees things differentlyand evenhopes for a future with you. So long as youdon’t turn her down, all will go well.
After you’ve shared a sweet moment with Lae’zel andcommitted to a future with her, all that’s left is todefeat the Netherbrain and decide your fate.
How To Secure An Ending With Lae’zel
Lae’zel’s romance is unique in thather personal quest cannot be completeduntil youreach the final sectionof the game. Freeing Orpheus can only be done after you reach thefinal point of no return, where youconfront the Elder brain.
Once Lae’zel knows the truth about Vlaakith, she willstop at nothing to free Orpheus.
Refusing her this will result in abreak up or a fight to the death.
To secure a fairly happy ending with Lae’zel, follow through with her quest tofree the githyanki people. If you play as a gith, you’ll find that there’s additional weight to this decision as well.
For the best ending as far as romance goes, it’s suggested thatKarlach become a mind flayer.
Thisallows Orpheus to liveandprevents Lae’zel from breaking upwith you.
However, it willmake you choosebetween lettingLae’zel fight for her peopleandliving a life with you.
Depending on your choices thus far,Orpheus will receive you differently. If you’ve been disrespectful to the githyanki customs and havedestroyed the creche, he’ll tell you it’s your responsibility to become a mind flayer.
As long as you are on good terms with Lae’zel, and not a mind flayer, she willhonor your wishes and stay with you.
If Lae’zel is still loyal to Vlaakith, she will leave you and claim her prize as a dragon rider for the lich queen.
Lae’zel Epilogue
In the epilogue,Lae’zel will update youon all she’s been doing the past few months. If she stayed with you, you’ll talk about your lives and the way things are going. If she leaves with the other githyanki after the final battle or chose break up with you, you’ll seean astral projection of Lae’zelinstead.
While morally,the best option is for Lae’zel to go fight the lich queen, it’s understandable if you want her to stay with you. She canabandon the other githyankiin favor of spending her life with you, though itfeels rather unfulfillingto see her sacrifice that part of herself.
If Lae’zelkept the githyanki egg, she will raise it as her own. If she stayed with you, you’ll raise the egg together.
She’ll still talk with you and update you on all that she’s been up to, which can bebitter-sweet if you told her to follow her ambitionsrather than stay with you. Either way,as long as you’re on good terms, she’ll tell you thatshe misses you and hopes to return soon.
