It’s become a pretty popular show of skill to beat games with dance pads these days, withElden Ring,God of War, andMetal Gear Solidall having been beaten through the power of dance.Kingdom Hearts 3is the next title on the chopping block, as Twitch streamer MomoPkmn95 recently became the first ever person to beat the game on Critical Mode with a dance pad.
Momo recently shared the end of her run in a video posted to her personal Twitter account, in which Sora deals the final blow to Xehanort after what must have been a pretty grueling few hours. To break down the entire run, Momo has also uploaded a video to YouTube in which they detail all the struggles they had to go through, as well as how they took down some of the game’s trickier sections.
For starters, Momo had to change how they played the game quite considerably, as not only does Kingdom Hearts 3 not have Reflect unless you have one of the more powerful Keyblades such as Oblivion or Oathkeeper, but because they needed to rig up a separate foot pedal to stop accidentally activating the shotlocking mechanic.
Another big hurdle was the Toy Box world, as Momo was completely unable to turn around while piloting the Gigas mechs you initially encounter on the first floor. After a whole bunch of strafing in circles and occasionally firing cannons, Momo was able to get past the section without getting one shot by Gigas, though she describes the area as “stressful”.
Momo is just as impressively adaptive throughout the rest of the run, using summons like Wreck-It-Ralph and Simba to dish out massive damage to bosses, and making use of Kupo coins. They struggled with fights such as Leviathan in the Kingdom of Corona, the Giant Flying Heartless in the Pirate of the Carribean world, and the fight against Ansem, Xemnas, and Young Xehanort in the Keyblade Graveyard.
With some cheese, luck, and an awful lot of patience, Momo comes out on top though, making history in the Kingdom Hearts community in the process. As for what they plan on doing next, Momo states that while she’s doesn’t want to make any promises about completing the Remind DLC, she doesn’t rule it out either.
If the name Momo sounds familiar, then you probably won’t be shocked to hear that this isn’t their first time with these kinds of challenges. Back in 2022, she somehow managed tobeat every single boss in the original Kingdom Hearts with a dance pad, including infamous fights against the likes of Phantom, Kurt Ziza, and Sephiroth. Demyx would be proud.
