InFortnite:Chapter 5 Season 1, a new weapon workbench has completely shifted the way weapons work in the game. Unlike other seasons, all weapons now spawn with randomized attachments that upgrade specific stats of each weapon, such as reload speed.
Luckily, if you defeat specific NPCs and obtain their loot, you can enter a vault and use the weapon workbench inside to pick and choose whichever weapon attachments you want. If you are curious about how to access these workbenches, then follow the steps below.

Obtain A Medallion
Before you can use a Weapon Workbench, you’ll have to obtain a Medallion by completing an NPC boss fight at one of five specific POIs. Luckily, these NPC bosses always spawn at the same five POIs, which areSnooty Steppes, Fencing Fields, Reckless Railway, Lavish Lair, and Grand Glacier.
Right as you land, we recommend preparing for the fight by obtaining any shields and weapons you can find, because these NPC bosses are moderately difficult. After defeating the boss, they will drop a Medallionwhich can be picked up to receive buffs to your shields.

While fighting any of these bosses, remember that after you break their shields they will enter a unique animation. This will spawn multiple bodyguards that will fight for the boss, while also fully regenerating your opponent’s shields.
Open The Vault
After you pick up a Medallion, you will be able tovisually see a line that leads you directly to an underground vault.Unlike other seasons, you do not need a specific keycard to open the vault door, just simply stand in front of the scanner while holding a Medallion.
This will scan your body and slowly open the unbreakable vault door, which leads into a swanky interior that contains piles of gold and two to three valuable chests.

Remember thatthere is only one entrance and exit to this vault,so you may get trapped by a team that also wants to claim the loot.
How To Customize Weapons With The Weapon Mod Bench
On the left side of each vault, you will see a bright red weapon workbench. While previous iterations of these workbenches allowed you to spend gold to increase the rarity of your weapon, these new benches let you exchange gold to change your weapon attachments.
If you have at least 75 gold, thenyou can use this workbench to add an attachment to one of four slots in your gun. Also, if you have picked up a gun with an attachment that you don’t want, such as a shotgun with a long-ranged scope, youcan freely remove these parts without spending gold.
You may not want to upgrade your weapon’s attachments if it is a lower-rarity weapon, sincethis specific workbench can only customize the attachments on the gun,not upgrade the rarity level.
