My Time at Sandrockoffers plenty of exciting things to do in your new desert hometown, but as the new builder in town, you won’t get very far without your tools. Whether it’s your axe or pickhammer, both are critical to harvesting the resources you’ll need to perform your building tasks.

The two tools can be upgraded several times throughout the story as you gain access to new areas, able to break all kinds of new resources for you to bring home and build with. Make and improve your tools before venturing into any new areas while out exploring Sandrock!

The Axe And Pickhammer Are Your Most Major Tools

Although plenty of games in a similar vein to My Time at Sandrock feature a quick bar rife with various tools you’ll need, Sandrock simplifies things down to justtwo major toolsfor the majority of the game: youraxefor wood-based work, and apickhammerfor anything tougher, likemining material.

Though you’re given a basic axe at the beginning of the game, one of your first in-game missions sees you need touse your axe to gather materials to make your pickhammer.

This can be done at theWorktableatyour workshop, and requiresfour stone and two wood, which can be gathered from thepiles just outside your workshop

Upgrade The Axe And Pickhammer With Better Materials

As you go through My Time at Sandrock and uncoverbetter resourcesthan you had before, you’ll begin noticing more advancedcrafting recipeson your Worktableat home.

Theseimproved tools can break through stronger pilesof junk, offering your builder access to new materials once you’ve upgraded! You’ll occasionally run intopiles of scrap you’re able to’t breakwith your current tools, so revisit them after improving your tools.

Additionally, there will be a few times when you’regiven a unique toolas part of a story mission. These are oftenquite rareand typically offer some kind of improvement.

You canuse these tools as normal, or opt to stick with your own handmade tools instead.Check the statsof your gear before deciding!

Upgrade Your Worktables To Craft Better Tools

Though the initial Worktable you’re given in My Time at Sandrock does carry you quite far, you’ll need toupgrade your Worktablesbefore you can make certain tools.

There arethree Worktablesyou’ll use in My Time at Sandrock:the Worktable, the Intermediate Worktable, and the Advanced Worktable.

The Intermediate and Advanced Worktables bothrequire blueprintsfromthe Research Centerbefore you can make them, as well as a wide variety of resources.
