Crafting inLego Fortnitecan get a bit complicated. Unlocking new crafting recipes is a bit trickier than you might think. You must complete different actions in the game to discover different recipes. Materials, tools, and crafting stations can correlate to unlocking different items as well.
This article details every rarity level of crafting bench and what materials you need in your inventory to upgrade them. We have also included every new recipe that comes with each rarity level of crafting bench available. This will help you determine what items you may be missing out on and how you’re able to get them.
As of the Odyssey update in December 2024, Crafting Bench upgrades no longer exist. This article contains information on legacy content and is no longer relevant to current content.
How To Upgrade The Crafting Bench
Eachbench upgradeis markedby rarity level. Your first crafting benchcan only craft common items. The next level up is uncommon; however, you will only be able to have access to recipes that are of uncommon quality.
An important thing to note here is thateven though you have an upgraded crafting bench, you will not get all the new recipes.
If some of the new recipes require a material you’ve never encountered before, that recipe will not unlockuntil you have collected that material for the first time.
For example, you can upgrade your crafting bench all the way to Epic. An Epic crafting bench will still not have the Epic Shovel recipeunless you have acquired Iron before.
How To Unlock More Recipes
These bench upgrades willonly give you access to recipes for which you have found the materials.
If you do not see a recipe in your game as it correlates to the table below, it is because you have not acquired the material needed to make that recipe.
you may onlyunlock new recipes in Lego Fortnite by crafting other items or finding new materials. (The only way tounlock the Garden Plot recipeis to craft a common Shovel for the first time)
Each crafting bench upgrade will unlock the next best toolsfor you to mine or collect the next best materials. This gives you the materials needed to unlock further recipes for your bench level.

Every Tool And What They Can Break
This will help you understand what next steps you need to take to acquire the next best thing. You start out with only Common tools, which allow you to collect Granite and Wood.
The only way tocraft better weapons and unlock new recipes is to get better tools.
The next best thing, Uncommon tools, require refined materials such as Wooden Rods, which are made with the Lumber Mill.
An Uncommon Pickaxe requires Knotroot Rod and Bone. You can acquire Bone with ease, but you cannot collect Knotroot without an Uncommon Forest Axe.
That is why the Uncommon Forest Axe requires materials that are easier to get, such as Wooden Rods and Bones.
Your next step from Common Tools is toupgrade your Crafting Bench and then craft an Uncommon Forest Axe.
With this new axe, you canenter caves and collect Knotroot.Turn said Knotroot into Rods, and you will be able to craft the next best Uncommon tools and weapons.
