Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’sMWZ mode is filled with story quests that award exclusive cosmetics and XP when completed. Players that complete most of these missions will unlock the Bone Collector, a prestigious skin that requires some serious dedication to acquire.
Earning this operator skin can prove challenging for solo and casual players alike, but it’s far from impossible. This guide will explain how to acquire the Bone Collector skin in Modern Warfare Zombies, and we’ll give a solo-friendly breakdown of how to complete the final Act 3 mission that awards this skin. We’ll also explain how you’re able to use this skin in Zombies and Multiplayer once you unlock it.
How To Unlock The Bone Collector Skin
The Bone Collector skin is unlocked uponcompleting the first three Acts in MWZ.You’ll unlock the operator skin from “Defeat Zakhaev,” the final mission in Act 3. The exact objectives for each mission can be viewed in the MWZ pre-game lobby.
Since the first three Acts must be cleared in chronological order, you’ll need to complete a total of 47 missions to unlock this skin. The good news is thatyou can earn this skin as a solo player.None of the Act objectives require you to play with a squad. With that said, some of the Act missions can be quite challenging,especially those found in Act 3.
Defeat Zakhaev Mission Walkthrough
The final mission in Act 3 is quite tough, but it’s arguably easier thanthe Shepherd mission in Act 2.Defeat Zakhaev features a boss fight and many mercenaries, so be sure your character is fully geared before starting this mission. You’ll want a three-plate vest, at least one Self-Revive Kit (more if you’re solo), and as many perks as possible. A T3 Pack-A-Punched weapon is also recommended.
Pack-A-Punch your weapons and buy every perk before using the Zakhaev exfil. Any items and upgrades on you will carry over to the instanced mission.
When you’re ready,head to the exfil location named “Defeat Zakhaev” on your map.It’ll be marked with a gold star, similar to the other instanced story missions. Hop on the helicopter when it arrives to start the mission.
Proceed To Zakhaev’s Facility
Upon landing, you will be tasked with entering a facility near the middle of the map.Many mercenaries will be guarding the entrance, so take this part slowly. A long-range weapon can be used to pick off the mercenaries from a safe distance. Past the shoreline are a few rigged proximity mines. Shooting the traps will blow them up.
Further into the compound, you will find a few inconspicuous shipping containers.These containers house T2 zombies, the same difficulty as the Medium Threat zone. They’re not too difficult to kill, but they can easily distract you from the mercenaries guarding the nearby facility.Back up, kill the zombies, then push into the facility.
Plant The Explosive Charges
The inside of the facility will be guarded by a small group of mercenaries.Two snipers will be positioned on the catwalks on the second floor,so be sure you take them out first. If you’re playing solo, we recommend youreach the rooftopfirst and fight the enemies from above. If you enter the ground floor, try to lure the zombies inside to distract the soldiers.
When the coast is clear, you’ll need to plant explosives on the enrichment device.Exit the facility when you’re doneto start the next objective. Beware that a small army of mercenaries will be waiting for you outside.
Get To The Neutralizer
Jensen’s Neutralizer device is on the western edge of the map, once again guarded by a small group of mercenaries.An ammo cache can be found inside a nearby warehouse, so now is a great time to restock on ammo. Clear out the soldiers, reload your weapons, and apply all of your armor plates.
A helicopter will spawn and attempt to kill your team.It behaves identically to the helicopters seen in Escort Contracts. You don’t need to destroy it; simply damage it until it hovers near the warehouse.
Defeat Orcus
A massive worm creature will erupt from the ground and destroy the helicopter.You must defeat Orcus to finish the mission.The creature might look intimidating at first glance, but it only has three ways of hurting you:
Beyond that, simply damage the boss with your weapons until it dies.The glowing purple segments are considered weakpointsand receive critical damage from all weapons. This damage is doubled if you’re using Deadshot Daiquiri, so any weapon with high critical damage will make short work of this boss.
Stick close to a building throughout this fight, as it will protect you from Orcus' laser attack. Shoot its weakpoints when you’re able to fight any zombies that spawn, and you should be able to slay this boss in a few minutes. The mission will end once Orcus is slain.
How To Equip The Bone Collector Skin
The Bone Collector skin can be equipped in both MW3 Multiplayer and MWZ.This skin belongs to the Ripper operatorfor Specgru. In MWZ, you’re able to equip this skin by selecting the Ripper operator while in the “Strike Team” tab. Select the Bone Collector skin before recruiting them.
For Multiplayer, head to the “Operators” tab and browse through the Specgru options until you find Ripper. Press the “Customize” key and select the Bone Collector skin.
Multiplayer Favorite Faction
You can select a favorite Multiplayer faction while selecting an operator. Press “1” on PC or “Left Trigger” on controller to favorite the selected faction. All future MP matches will attempt to assign you to that faction when possible, letting you use your favorite skins more often.
