Ever seen one of those giant monsters walking around inDragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, and wanted to scout them? Maybe you tried to fight them, and the monsters decided to destroy your team in a turn or two, or you fought them fine but made no scouting progress.
Those large monsters' size isn’t just for show: they’re powerful, get multiple turns, and function much like bosses in their own right. If you’re having trouble figuring out how to scout these potential allies, we’ll show you how to do it, and give you a list of all the ones you can find in the game.

How To Find Unique Large Monsters
You can often find unique large monsters blocking pathways on an Echelon, such asthe Cyclops in Terrestria, blocking one of two paths towards the Gradely Grasslands area. These large monsters will always be in the same spot or travel along the same pre-set pathway and will bemuch larger than even large-sized regular monsters that randomly appear from time to time.
Each Circle of Nadiria has its unique Large Monster to encounter, except for the Cradle of Corruption, andoftentimes you’ll need to come back later to fight them.

How To Scout Unique Large Monsters
Scouting unique Large Monsters workssimilarly to scouting regular monsters of any size, but with akey difference;your ability to scout them is strictly tied to both your monster’s Leveland, to a lesser extent, your story progression. Unless you reach near or above a unique Large Monster’s level, youwon’t be able to feed them any meat, and your monster’s scouting attacks won’t do any damage.
A monster’sAttack Statdetermineshow much damagea monster will beinflicting when scouting, so you’ll wantstrong physical attackerswhen looking to scout unique Large Monsters.

Once you’ve progressed enough to be at the right level, scouting a unique Large Monster can be done, but itmay take several tries. Due to how strong they are, you’ll want to have a proper team ready to scout a unique Large Monster, includinga good healer, a monster that can buff your defenses and attack, and then damage-dealing monsters.
Battle them normally, making sure toget buffs and debuffs upto help prevent them from doing a lot of damage to you, particularly ones thatboost your attack and lower their defense, butstop before you defeat them.

A monster that’sclose to being defeatedtakesmore scouting damagethan one at full or even half HP.
Give them as much meat as they’ll accept, thenyou can start taking your chances with scouting them, and see if they’ll join your team.If they refuse and get angry, you can eitherdefeat them normally and see if they’ll ask to join after the battle, or you can reset your game and try again.
You canrespawn unique Large Monstersbyteleporting back to the areaafter they’ve been defeated or scouted.
Any unique Large Monster can be obtained through synthesizing normally, both as a small monster or a large monster, but unique Large Monsters areone way to give yourself a better chance ofgetting another large monster when synthesizing.Their set size and location make them easily farmable, and they tend to produce other Large monsters more often.
