Coral Islandis a solid entry in the ever-growing farming simulator genre, allowing you to explore planting crops, raising livestock, crafting products, and all the other wonderful aspects of managing your own farm.
The game also gives you an opportunity to embed yourself in the lively Coral Island community, where you’re able to meet many unique individuals and even romance some of them. Wakuu was introduced as one of the romanceable NPCs as a part of the game’s stretch crowdfunding goals, adding even more variety into the mix. Don’t let his stoic apperance fool you, he is a sweetheart.

Who Is Wakuu?
Wakuu is an astronomer and one of the Coral Island residents. He spends most of his time inthe island’s Observatory, where he lives and works. Though, he will also frequently stay atthe Lighthouse with his father, Wataru. His lack of connections with other NPCs indicate that he is an introverted type. Despite this and his intimidating appearance, he is not at all haughty. If you chat with him, you will quickly discover that he is really nice.
Wakuu cares a lot about the state of the Observatory. He even goes as far as mentioning to you that, although the issue is complicated, he could see himselfsiding with Pufferfishif it means that they will repair the Observatory. This makes him one of the most pragmatic Coral Island residents.

Wakuu’s Schedule
Even though Wakuu spends most of his time in isolation at the Observatory, working in or around it, he does go into town a bit. You can usually catch himplaying pool at Fishensips, the local tavern, or enjoying a morning coffee at Raja’s. He will also stay at theLighthouse with his father every weekend.
Wakuu’s schedule will haveoccasional seasonal changes, as is the case for most Coral Island residents. Rainy or snowy weather can make some NPCs stay indoors. This isnot entirely the case for Wakuuas he will still go outside, but his schedule does change some according to the weather.

What Gifts To Give Wakuu
Wakuu’s Birthday is onWinter 8! Giving him a gift he will love on his birthday will give you a lot of relationship points with him.
Giving Wakuu gifts is essential toimproving your relationship with him. However, giving him any old gift will not be enough. Like all other islanders, he has gifts he loves and gifts he hates.
Wakuu is a great exampleof NPCs taking deviations from gift items known to beuniversally good or bad, as he willlove to receive Salmon, while fish are often a gift that will upset NPCs.
Giving Wakuu a bad gift mightdeteriorate your relationship with him, so you have to be careful what you give him. These are all his known preferences:
Hated Gifts
You can only give an NPCtwo gifts per week. Use your slots well!
Wakuu’s Gifts To You
Coral Island implements the mechanic of gift giving by making it so the farmer receives gifts from other islanders as well. All NPCs you are friends with can send you gifts occasionally. Some islanders will require that you meet certain conditions to send you gifts, though.
Wakuu has a few gifts he can send you, but he will only do so under some special circumstances:
Special Conditions
Cenil
He will only send this during the fall. You need to have a town rank of D or above.
Lemon
He will only send this during fall or winter. You need to have a town rank of C or above.
What Are Wakuu’s Heart Events?
Heart events arespecial cut-scenesyou can get for each romance candidate after reaching different relationship milestones.
Hearts as a marker of relationship progressdo not just apply to romanceable NPCs. Every NPC in Coral Island has heart counts, and getting heart event scenes does not always indicate a romance with a character.
Heart events can only be triggered once youachieve a heart count milestone. They will also only trigger in set places. Some heart event scenes are even tied to specific time windows or other conditions, like the weather or the season.
Heart event cutscenes will alsousually trigger in order. That is to say, you will only be able to view the heart event for four hearts for a character if you have previously viewed their heart event for two hearts, and so on.
