Growing your relationship with numerous characters can help you decide who the right one to settle down with is. This will impact who you spend time with, how you progress through your game, and how attached you are to the whole community.

What Are Heart Events?
Heart events aredifferent cutscenes and interactionsthat occur as yougrow your friendshipwith the characters. These occur at various intervals per character, though usually about every two hearts. Up until you reach eight hearts.
From there, you’vemaximized the friendshipwith the romance candidate and will need topursue their romance.
Can You Date More Than One Person?
You canpursue as many characters as you’d likebefore reaching eight hearts. In the eyes of the islanders, you’re making friends until you confess to your desired partner. Even then, you can date as many characters as you’d like.
Once you’ve reached eight hearts, you’ll get aletter in the mail from Pablotelling you abouta locket that lets you confess your feelings. By purchasing one (or many) of these lockets, you cangift it to the romance candidate(s)of your choice. They’ll accept, and you can continue increasing their hearts up to ten for maximum affection.
Gifting the lockets to Coral Island romance options changes their statuses to your significant other in-game.
Who Are The Romance Candidates?
Upon release, there are28 eligible NPCsthat can be romanced, though not all are available just yet.

you’re able to alsomarry another player in multiplayer mode, though the exact method has yet to be uncovered.
How To Get Married
To marry a character, you’ll have to havereached ten heartswith them. Afterwitnessing all of their heart events, you’ll be able topropose via the engagement ringand get married shortly after. There are a few requirements you’ll have to meet first:
Your proposal will be rejected if you’re missing a step, but they will not break up with you over it.
Once all these criteria are met, you’re able to propose successfully and get married! You’llreceive an invitation in the mail with the date. After your wedding,your spouse will move in with you.
If you’d like to dress up for your wedding, make sure to do so before leaving your house the day of the event!
Marriage allows you tobuild a new life with the partnerof your choice, regardless of gender. you’re able to alsobuild a family, if that’s what you choose.
Can You Have Children?
Yes! You’ll be able tohave children and watch them grow upas you continue playing. Marriage and children are included in the full release, but the mechanic where you watch your children grow will be added later.
You will beable to have two children, and a third if you marry Suki and become a stepparent to Valentina.
To have children, you’ll need to upgrade your house fully and accept the offer when your spouse asks if you want to have children. After two weeks, you’ll have a new addition to your Coral Island family.
