Quick Links
Fishing is not new to the Yakuza series. We have received multiple permutations of this minigame over the years. So then, it doesn’t come as a surprise thatLike A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, has not one, but two fighting minigames contained within it. And we aren’t talking aboutslightlydifferent permutations of the same game, there are twocompletelydifferent fishing minigames contained within.
This guide will specifically deal with the non-Dondoko Island type of fishing. This is the fishing minigame you will use to catch fish for recipes and meals. You’ll encounter it in every area of the game, though it is oddly not marked on your map. But worry not, fishing fans, we’ll tell you everything you need to seek out and get your fill.

Where Can You Go Fishing?
One of the conveniences present in Infinite Wealth is that you can open up your map and see all the minigames clearly marked by a game controller icon. Well, we should saynearlyall minigames, as the fishing minigame isn’t given the same treatment. If you want to go fishing, you will find the fishing spots in the following locations…
It would appear thateveryfishing spot will yield the same catches. We fished hundreds of times across the various locations and didn’t noticeanydifferences whatsoever.

How Does The Fishing Minigame Work?
This is a pretty simple fishing game. You need to press the button prompt once the fish aligns with the target area in the center. The fish may approach from the left or the right side of the screen. The button prompt will randomly change every time you attempt to fish(every attempt will cost you ¥100 or $1). You don’t need to hit the button the moment the fish aligns with the target, it can beslightlyover the edge, and it will still count.
As far as we can tell, hitting the button the instant the fish is in the center of the target zone doesnotimprove the outcome. It seems like the fish you receive is completely randomized.

Catchable “Fish”
So, let’s start by getting one thing out of the way, the majority of what you catch won’t actually be fish. Most of it is going to be different types of seaweed. None of these ingredients are a bad outcome, though. you’re able to use the seaweed to make some pretty effective healing items.
Shark Fin
How To Get Squid Tentacles And Shark Fins
Once you get to the end of the game, Shark Fins and Squid Tentacles will become one of the most coveted items, as they are a necessary material for a number of the most powerful weapons in the game. While there are a few places to find these coveted items, including a handful of late-game bosses, fishing is easily the fastest way to acquire Shark Fins and Tentacles.
We ran a number of tests to see if we could provide players with any greater insight into how to acquire these items. We fished 100 times at five different spots - three in Honolulu, two in Ijincho - and here is what we found…

It would appear that you have about a 2% to 3% chance of pulling either of these valuable items. This may sound relatively low, but it never took us longer than a few minutes of fishing to catch one of these items.
What Should I Do With My Catches?
So,most of what you catch is invaluable for creating healing items at one of the vegetable vendors' stalls. And these healing items arepotent. As an example, the three most common items—Seaweed, Mysterious Seaweed, and Frozen Fish—can be used to make the Fresh Seafood Hot Pot, which will heal 300 HP and 300 MP for theentire party. And that isn’t even the best item you can craft!
