Quick Links
Mortal Kombat 1does an excellent job of introducing various characters with unique and cool designs, such as a demon turned angel, an actor who knows how to fight, and more. Among these characters, you’ll find Nitara, a vampire with plenty of blood moves to take down her foes.
While you’ll come across characters with plenty of projectiles or mid-ranged fighters, Nitara stands out as a fast and flashy character. The moveset fits with her design while offering something fun to play, making her a great choice as a main. If you want to learn how to play her, get a feel for her specials and see which Kameos synergize with her moveset.

Nitara Overview
Nitara is your go-to rushdown character, with most of her specials having close-ranged properties to pressure enemies. Whileshe can perform well on the ground, she excels in the air, having quick movement options to punish opponents that jump too much.
What makes her unique is her Blood Sacrifice ability, since it changes the properties of her other moves. For instance, Bad Blood can deal damage over time while Quick Taste can heal you, adding an on-the-fly strategy to her play style.

Nitara also has excellent normal attacks, allowing her to get in quick comboswith less end lag than other characters. You may have some trouble against mid-range characters that can keep her out or if you don’t know how to close the distance on zoners.
You do have multiple moves to help you deal with these situations, though, such as your (Air) Dash, which provides you with more air control and a way to catch enemies off-guard. This can help you force enemies into the corner, where you can unleash deadly combos.

Nitara does require fast reactions and for you to learn her combos, soif you’re a dedicated character that loves to optimize your play style, you’ll find Nitara to be a solid main.

Nitara Tips
You’ll see the most success with Nitara if you can stick to enemies and keep them guessing. Since you have multiple fast attacks on the ground and in the air, it allows you to make the opponent nervous and force them to play defensively.
When this happens, you can go for combo strings, sinceNitara has some built-in launchers that lead to her excellent air game.
You cango with a simple 1, 2, 1, 2 or 2, 2, 1 string to knock opponents into the air, then you can follow it up with an air combo. Depending on your meter and Kameos, you can extend the combo with Enhanced Special Moves or have a Kameo extend the air time.
If you want to get started with combo development, you shouldtry this one that requires only one bar and deals over 30 percent damage.
Air 1, land, 1, 2, 1, 2, Air 1, 2, 4, land, 1, 2, Enhanced Quick Taste, 2, 2.
If you find yourself struggling against zoners, try to approach with your (Air) Dash, since you’re able to quickly close the distance and perform an air 1 or 2 before their move’s end lag finishes. Luckily, most projectiles in this game have plenty of lag, which gives you an opportunity to get them.
It’s easy to combo simple strings into your air 1 or 2, so feel free to perform a quick combo string if you landed it on the fly.
You should alsoget into the habit of activating Blood Sacrifice whenever you knock down your opponent. Since it takes a bit to activate, this will give you a safe way to prepare the special effects, though you could use the Enhanced version if your opponent plays aggressively.
Nitara Kameo Tips
Nitara loves to fight and extend combos, so you’ll want Kameos that can help you get into the fight, extend her combos, or provide her with some projectiles. If you don’t know where to start, you should try Kung Lao, Goro, and Sareena.
Kung Lao will help you by giving you a combo extender with his Forward Kameo, teleporting you behind the enemy with Neutral Kameo, and throwing a low-hitting projectile with Back Kameo.Kung Lao is a great pick if you want a teleport without sacrificing combo potential.
Goro has some excellent combo extenders, thanks to his Raise The Roof, which keeps enemies in the air longer. You can also use his Stomp to mix up enemies and force them to play defensively, giving you a chance to approach, so pick him for an offensive play style.
As for Sareena, she gives you some great pressure tools against foes, such as her full screen projectilesor leaving a zone on the ground that drains your enemy’s Super Meter. Pick her if you want long-ranged moves to cover your weaknesses.
Try out other Kameos with unique attacks, such as Darrius, Frost, and Cyrax. They havemultiple delayed specials, so if you put in the time and try out different options, you could expand your combopotential further.
Nitara Fatalities
Nitara starts with her first Fatality, butyou need to reach Mastery Rank 14 with her to get the second one. If you plan on learning the inputs and distances, you should go to the Main Menu, select Learn, and pick Fatalities to master them for battles.
