When playingDisney Villainous, you take on the role of one of your favorite villains and work to accomplish their sinister goals. Though you’re on your own board and have no other player tokens to thwart you, other villains at the table can interfere with Fate cards to slow you down and get away with their own nefarious schemes.

The Sea Witch, Ursula, is a force to be reckoned with. Her goals are clear, and you’ll need the Trident and the Crown to rule all the ocean. Here are the best tips and tricks for playing Ursula in Disney Villainous so that you can secure victory.

Ursula’s Win Conditions

Aligning with her movie goals, Ursula’s win condition is that she needs tostart her turn with both the Crown and the Trident at her lair. This can be tricky to do, as you’ll need to not onlyfind both cards, but play them without being thwarted.

In Introduction To Evil, the win condition is simplified to having both the Trident and the Crown at Ursula’s Lair.

These two items are singular, meaning there’sonly one of each in the deckto find. If you’re lucky, you’ll find them early. Otherwise, you’ll be card searching for a while. Bothhave a cost of four, though the trident is the most difficult item to deal with.

Villain Deck

Ursula’s Villain Deck is what you’ll use to secure victory and rule the ocean. Here’s everything that’s included:

Type

Binding Contract

When Binding Contract is played, attach it to a Hero who is not at X location. That Hero is defeated when they are moved to X location.

There are four viariations of this card. Green for Ursula’s Lair, Blue for Eric’s Ship, Yellow for The Shore, and Red for The Palace.

1

Item

Crown

Look at the top two cards of your Fate deck. Either discard both cards or return them to the top in any order.

4

Trident

When Trident is played, find King Triton and play him to this location. Attach Trident to him. When King Triton is defeated, Trident is returned to Ursula at the same location.

Change Form

Move the Lock Token to either Ursula’s Lair or The Palace.

Effect

Grow Giant

Perform one available action at a location adjacent to Ursula, even if the location is locked.

Opportunist

Choose an Item or Effect from your discard pile and put it into your hand.

Divination

Reveal cards from the top of your deck until you reveal a Binding Contract. Put that Binding Contract into your hand. Discard the rest.

Arrogance

During their turn, if another player defeats a Hero with a Strength of 4 or more, you may play Arrogance. Draw three cards into your hand, then discard any three cards.

Condition

Flotsam

Move a Hero from Flotsam’s location to an adjacent unlocked location.

Ally

Jetsam

Move a Hero from Jetsam’s location to an adjacent unlocked location.

Fate Deck

While you’re busy toiling away to achieve your goal, it’s important to be aware of the cards that can harm you and impede your progress. Below is the Fate deck you’ll be working against:

Return To Form

Choose a Hero with a Strength of 4 or less from Ursula’s Fate dicard pile. Play that Hero to Ursula’s location.

Dinglehopper

When Dinglehopper is played, attach it to a Hero. Each time Ursula moves to this location, she loses 1 Power.

Snarfblat

When Snarfblat is played, attach it to a Hero. The Cost to play a Binding Contract on that Hero is increased by 3 Power.

Ariel

When Ariel is played, you may move an unattached item from an unlocked location to her location. Until Ariel is defeated, Ursula cannot perform the Move an Item or Ally action.

Hero

Eric

When Eric is played, you may move a Hero to any unlocked location.

Flounder

When Flounder is played, you may shuffle Ursula’s discard pile into her deck.

Grimsby

When Grimsby is played, you may move the Lock Token to either Ursula’s Lair or The Palace.

King Triton

The Cost to play a Binding Contract or Effect that targets King Triton is increased by 1 Power.

6

Max

If Max is played to Ursula’s location, you may move Ursula to any unlocked location.

3

Sebastian

When Sebastian is played, you may choose a Binding Contract that is attached to a Hero at an unlocked location and attach it to Sebastian instead.

Scuttle

When Scuttle is played, you may choose an Item from Ursula’s Fate discard pile and attach it to Scuttle.

Strengths And Weaknesses

The strength in Ursula’s deck comes fromnot having extensive win conditionslike Hades or Jafar. Heritems can be played in any order, making it easier to reach your win condition.

So long as Ursula’s Lair isn’t locked, you can play both the Crown and the Trident directly to that location without having to move them.

The weaknesses, however, are numerous. Whilegood luck and card drawwill bring you to victory quickly, it can also be your undoing. For example, getting Fated can spell certain doomif you’re not prepared.

Heroes likeAriel will move unattached itemsfrom unlocked locations to her own location, sabotaging your scheme. Until she is defeated, youwon’t be able to move any items or Allies. Without any Binding Contracts ready to go, this cantake several turns to deal with.

Additionally, the same issue occurs when you play the Trident, asTriton must be found, played, and defeatedfor you to truly harness its power.

Triton also ups the cost of playing a Binding Contract by one power, making it more expensive to deal with him.

Ursula Strategy And Tips

For Ursula, the best thing you can do is prepare. Themain tactic is to Discard frequently. Anything you don’t need, and likely won’t need in the next three turns: get rid of it. You’ll want tograb power every other turnso that you canplay items as soon as you get them.

Once they’re on the board, they’re not going away.

Ideally, you’ll want toplay the Crown to Ursula’s Lair, andplay the Trident to Eric’s Shipwhile having aBinding Contract ready for Ursula’s Lair. Playing the Trident summons Triton, so with enough power on your next turn, you canplay the contract and move himto Ursula’s Lair to Vanquish him.

If Ariel is in play, you’ll want toplay the Binding Contract for the Shore, move her there, and thenuse Grow Giant to move the itemAriel took towards Ursula’s Lair.

If you’re playing with new players or those unfamiliar with Ursula’s Villain Deck, you have a better chance at success. If the other players at the table do know Ursula’s strategy well, you may find yourself getting Fated far more frequently. This can delay you greatly and sabotage your chances of becoming Villainous.
