Tekken 8has a remarkable 32-character roster, housing a cast of eclectic fighters that will make most players feel at home, no matter their playstyle or taste. And while some fan favorites are currently absent from the game, the new faces will more than makeup for it with their whacky playstyles and familiar vibes.
Take Azucena Milagros Ortiz Castillo, for example, a new character who feels fresh while giving you flashbacks of Josie and Miguel, a combination that will have the series veterans sweating and pleading for their lives once she gets cooking in the arena. And, trust us, that doesn’t take long for her to do, as she possesses the ability to overwhelm her opposition in the blink of an eye.

Azucena is a remarkably interesting character in Tekken 8, bringing aunique taunt-based stanceto the game, making herexceptionally skilled at evading incoming attackswith swift movement and well-timed parries. While she is a blast to play, knowing what to do and when can be a tad too much, as her unique playstyle can take some time to adjust to.
As one of the new characters to enter the roster, herMove List won’t be as robust or extensive as some of the more legacy characters,but she still does have alarge selection of potent attacks,so you won’t necessarily be starving for more moves when playing as Azucena. You just won’t have access to a laundry list of moves.
That said, Azucenawarrants a particular playstyle that can feel a bit complex or obtusefor newcomers. Herspeedy nature is complemented well with the new Heat system,but her general playstyle can take a while to grasp if you’re used to other characters. But her ability to deal high damage while maintaining her aggressive offense is what sets her in a league of her own.
While possessing many evasion options, Azucena is also a striker thanks to her MMA training, which makes her shine at close and mid-range engagements and elevates her poke game. Given the proper spacing and being mindful of her opponent’s capabilities, she can be nearly untouchable when she gets going.

Furthermore, the newHeat systems and mechanics complement Azucena’s playstyle well,enabling her to be even more aggressive than normal, which is very troublesome to her opposition. Shecan be hard to read and even harder to hit,as her evasive skills and ability to dodge incoming attacks while dishing out staggering amounts of damage make her a terror to deal with.
Regarding her overall difficulty,Azucena might be a bit much for newcomersbut not overly impossible to learn. Herodd taunt-style stance can be tricky to implementproperly, and her overall playstyle is exceptionally differentthan the rest of the cast. If you decide to pick her up, westrongly urge you to complete her Combo Trials and mess around in Training Modefor a bit first!
