InMy Time At Sandrock, you’ll spend a lot of time exploring the world and searching for materials you need to craft new tools, build machines, and fix things around the city of Sandrock. As the citizens of Sandrock request more difficult commissions, you’ll need to find rarer items and new resources to fulfill them.
One item you’ll need for a lot of machine diagrams is Plastic and its various products, but after the Day of Calamity, humanity lost the ability to make it for themselves. If you need it for a machine or a build, you’ll need to brave the desert and hunt for junk.

How To Get Plastic Scrap
If you want to get some Plastic Scrap, the best way to do it is tolocate and break Plastic Waste Piles.
Plastic Waste Piles appear aspiles of sand with blue plasticsticking out of them, and they’re initially found in thelarge desert area west of Sandrockafter yourepair the railway bridge and ensure it gets certified for safety by Mint.

Plastic Waste Piles can only be broken with anIron Pickhammer or better, and they drop Dregs, Plastic, andPlastic Scrapthat can berecycled in a Civil Recycleror better.
Most commonly, you’ll find thema few steps away from the train tracksleading through the area, though some spawn further out, and two Plastic Waste Pilesalways spawnaround the large signal lightnear Gecko Station Ruins.
After you’vefound and recycled at least onePlastic Scrap Pile in the west, a giant pile begins tospawn atEufaula Salvage, and this pile replenishesonce a day.
If you’veadopted a pet, such as Banjo or Nemo, and haveassigned them to a sleeping spotin your workshop, it’s also possible topassively get small quantitiesbydispatching them out to Explore.
Each explorationlasts 12 hours, and theyhave a chanceto bring you back at leastone type of scrap, includingPlastic Scrap.
