Is your child Sim throwing tantrums, destroying dollhouses, and generally just being a big jerk? Well, it sounds like they might struggle with Emotional Control.InThe Sims 4, child Sims have five character values: Responsibility, Empathy, Conflict Resolution, Manners, and Emotional Control.
These five areas of behavior are assigned a point value based on the actions your Sim performs during childhood, ending up on a behavior spectrum that will determine which traits they may possess as an adult. Emotional Control is an important character value that will determine how your Sim experiences emotion and regulates themselves.

What Is Emotional Control?
Emotional control is a value that refers to how well a child Sim can regulate their emotions and react to situations reasonably. A lack of emotional control will make your child Sim reactive and difficult.
When a child Sim with poor emotional control experiences a negative emotion, particularly jealousy or anger, they maylash out by destroying possessions and having breakdowns. On the other hand, child Sims with good emotional control use emotional regulation methods such as listening to relaxing music or going for a jog.

Traits Resulting From Emotional Control
The way Sims are taught to handle their emotions in childhoodwill guide them in adulthood.Children who get away with throwing tantrums and disrespecting others when upset will go on to wrestle with difficult emotions. Likewise, children who are taught to handle their emotions with care will be more likely to let go of negative emotions faster.
When teenager Sims age up into young adults, they may beassigned traits that reflect their upbringing. This will only happen if your Sim’s score for Emotional Control is in either gray end of the horseshoe-shaped spectrum. Depending on how your child Sim was raised, they may acquire one of the following traits:

Sims with the Emotional Control trait will generally experience fewer negative emotions.
When Sims who have the Emotional Control trait experience negative emotions, the feeling passes quickly. They can also perform emotional regulation actions, quickly resolving negative emotions.
Sims with the Uncontrolled Emotions trait will experience negative emotions more often, failing to resolve them in a timely fashion even if they make efforts to do so.
