The Grappling Hook is an essential early game item inEnshrouded. Without this tool, you’re able to’t complete many of the puzzles required to progress in the game via Vaults and Spires. The game pushes you to craft the Hook early on with some quests that require a grappling hook to complete. However, there are some items that you need to collect first.
Here’s how to craft the Grappling Hook, with a rundown on how to get all the materials you need to put it together on the Workbench: Metal Scraps, String, and Shroud Spores.

Enshrouded is currently in early access and this information is subject to change.
How To Craft The Grappling Hook
The Grappling Hook is crafted at a Workbench. Once you’ve placed your Flame Altar, set up a Workbench, and then you’ll unlock the recipe for the Hook.
The Grappling Hook requires:
Metal Scraps
Metal Scraps can be looted from destructible objects in the world or collected from defeated enemies. Heading over to Points Of Interest like the Scavenger Camp near the spawn location is a good place to start. You can read more about Metal Scraps here.
String
String can be crafted from Plant Fibre, gathered from small bushes and berry bushes. You can also find String in destructible objects alongside the Metal Scraps, or as lootable items in the world. You can read more about String here.
Shroud Spores
Shroud Spores can be looted from defeated Shroud enemies. Head down to the Enshrouded area close to the spawn location to farm Shroud Spores. Enemies do respawn after a short period of time.
Upgraded Grappling Hook
Later in the game, you’ll be able to upgrade your Grappling Hook to the Improved Grappling Hook.
To do so, you’ll need to first unlock the Carpenter via the Carpenter Vault.

The Improved Grappling Hook requires:
Shroud Core
Shroud Cores can be collected from defeated Wraith enemies, found in certain Enshrouded zones and around Elixir Wells.
Shroud Liquid
Shroud Liquid can be harvested from Spores in the Enshrouded zones - the large mushrooms, basically.
