Enshroudedis an enormous game, and it’s still in early access. This beginner’s guide covers how to get started in the game, whether that be solo or with a group of up to 16 players on a multiplayer server.
We’ll cover a bunch of tips to help you get started, an overview of class mechanics, as well as how to level and progress through the huge world of Embervale. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started with some tips we wish we knew when we first started playing.

Food, Water, And Other Yummy Stuff
Allthough Enshrouded is a survival game of sorts, you won’t actually need to eat food and drink water to survive.
However, they do provide a lot of excellent buffs that you shouldn’t ignore.

Food
Eating cooked meats, like lean meat you find from hunting the small rabbit creatures in the starting area, provides you with a big HP buff. Higher level animals drop better meat.
Water
You can find water in wells dotted around the world, and later in the game you can actually craft your own wells.
Water grants you extra stamina and extra stamina regen, ideal for exploring the world.

Other Food Types
You can regenerate health by eating purple berries, or improve your other stats by eating the appropriate foodstuff - things like Mushrooms, for example, can improve your Intelligence attribute. Check the food tooltips for more information.
Fast Travel
Embervale is massive. You have lots of opportunities to cut down travel time, though. You can fast travel back to yourFlame Altaror home base any time, as long as you aren’t in an Enshrouded area.
As you progress, you will also unlockSpireswhich act as permanent fast travel spots in the world. Much of the exploration comes from fast travelling to one of these spires and then using the Glider to travel to a new area.

Combat
There is a class system in Enshrouded. you may change your character’s class and skill tree at any time, opting to go for a wizard route, a healer, a tank, a melee class -pretty much any of the standard classes you can think of.
You can reset your skill points at the Flame Altar, allowing you to experiment with different builds.

Quest Progression
Enshrouded is very structured - you will unlock quests as you go,which will then appear on your world map. Head over there to complete quests and gather the required item or defeat the required enemies.
On the way, you’ll find plenty of buildings and other points of interest to explore. There is always something to find, and all the world’s chests refresh over time.

Destructible objects contain all sorts of goodies - destroy everything.
NPCS
There are currently five NPCs in Enshrouded: the Blacksmith, the Carpenter, the Farmer, the Alchemist, and the Hunter.
These are unlocked by completing NPC vaults, which are highlighted on your world map. Unlocking these NPCs is essential, as they all offer different upgrades and new items.

The Blacksmith, for example, will let you craft the first of the game’s armor sets, as well as new tools and weapons.
Farming
Farming is essential in Enshrouded - it allows you to take those six Flax plants you found and turn them into 100s of Flax over the next couple of hours.
To actually access Farming, you will first need to unlock the farmer NPC.
Building
You can build anything you want in Enshrouded - want to carve out an entire mountain to build a dwarven fortress? You can.
To save anything you build in the world, you have to place down a Flame Altar.Anything built outside of a Flame Altar’s boundaries will disappear upon the next world reset.
