Given how crucial time travel is to the plot ofPokemon Scarlet And Violet, it makes sense that the Sinnoh gods of time and space, Dialga and Palkia, would make an appearance. The two will be appearing in Tera Raids across the Paldea region during the last few weeks of December, and you can work together to take them on.
While other legendary Pokemon are confirmed to be available in the Indigo Disk DLC, Palkia and Dialga are not, so this might be your only chance to catch the Sinnoh box legends for a while. Fortunately, Palkia and Dialga are only five-star raids, meaning you don’t need as much prep work to get them.
Event Information
Palkia and Dialgawill appear infive-star raids until December 21st, 23:59 UTC. To access these raids, you must either have beaten the main story or joinedsomeone else’s raid.
Palkiawill appear inPokemon Violet,andDialgawill appear inPokemon Scarlet, but as long as you have access to the Poke Portal,you’re able to do the opposite raid online.
Both will belevel 75, have aDragon Tera-Type, and theirhidden ability, Telepathy.
How To Defeat Palkia
Of the two, Palkia’s easier to beat becauseit doesn’t have coverage for Fairy Typesand is less bulky than Dialga. It has several moves that hit hard, but with enough planning, aFairy-Type with good Sp. Defcan handle it.

Palkia’s main strategy is to simply hit you with very powerful special moves. However, each one individually does not have many uses, so while Palkia won’t use Struggle at any point,it will rotate through different moves very often, even if inconvenient.
Palkia willimmediately use Gravity and then summon Rain. Once you’re a quarter of the way through its health bar, it will make a shield and negate all negative effects.
Best Pokemon For Defeating Palkia
The best Pokemon to use for this battle is a bulky, level 100 Fairy-type.If you bring a Fairy-type, Palkia won’t use Draco Meteor at all, limiting its options to Fire Blast, Thunder, and Hydro Pump.
Azumarill is a good choicebecause it alsoresists Hydro Pump and Fire Blastwhile being so bulky that Thunder won’t one-shot it. Azumarill also learnsAqua Ring,allowing it to set up healing for itself.
verify yourAzumarill has Huge Power, Play Rough, and Aqua Ring, then equip a Shell Bell for more healing. From there, justspam Play Roughuntil you can Terastalize and Palkia goes down.
Belly Drum is a good set up move for Azumarill that will let you get through this raid faster, but it isn’t necessary, as you have to breed it onto Azumarill.
ForFairy-types with good Sp. AtklikeSylveonandFlutter Mane, a good strategy is to useCalm Mind, Draining Kiss, and equip a Metronome.
Use your first couple of turns to set up, and then spam Draining Kiss to stay healthy. Terastalize as soon as you can after the shield goes up.
Always be sure to use PP Ups on moves you intend on spamming.
How To Beat Dialga
Dialga’s Steel-typing makes it more difficult to just send in with a Fairy-type, but it’s still doable in a couple of tries.

Dialga will startby setting upTrick Room, allowing it to move first, then, like Palkia, will use its various attacks before setting up its shield about a quarter through its health bar.
The most difficult thing about Dialga isSteel Beam, which Dialga can usewithout incurring recoil damageandwill do massive damageto even bulky Fairy-Types.
Best Pokemon To Beat Dialga
For this fight, it’sbest to use a Dragon-type, as they willresist Steel Beam and Fire Blast. While they are weak to Draco Meteor,Dialga doesn’t use it often due to the Sp. Atk drop.
Use a Dragon Type that focuses on Sp. Atksuch as Miraidon or Goodra,as Dialga will use Iron Defense immediately after you break its shield.
While you do not have to have aDragon Tera Type, it will get you through the shield faster.
From there, the best strategy is to give your Pokemon a Shell Bell anduse a Special Dragon move such as Dragon Pulseover and over again. If you want to use a setup move, you may, butDialga resets both yours and its own stats very frequently.
Tips For Online Tera Raids
As most players only have a copy of one game, you’ll most likely have touse online Tera Raids for at least one of these Pokemon.This is less efficient because you can’t control what other players do.

How To Get Origin Form Palkia And Dialga
The Lustrous Globe and Adamant Orb can beobtained from the Porto Marinada Auctionon random days.
