One of your first main tasks to complete inEnshroudedis to find the sleeping survivor. This, of course, is the blacksmith found to the north of your starting location. If you are struggling to find this survivor and bring him back to your base, we’ve got you covered.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at how you can rescue the sleeping survivor and bring him to your base to work as a Blacksmith. First, let’s take a look at exactly where the sleeping survivor can be found on the map.

Where Is The Sleeping Survivor?
The sleeping survivor liesslightly northwest of your location, across the Braelyn Bridge. Above, you can see this location highlighted on the map. Once you reach this spot, it will register as anAncient Vault.
The map will be blank before exploring here, but once you get close enough, the location will reveal itself to you.
How To Reach The Ancient Vault
Getting here is fairly simple if youstick to the right path.It’s important not to beeline straight to this location though. If you look at the map above, you will see an area called Rookmore;do not head this way to reach the vault.This is at a lower elevation, and you will not be able to reach the sleeping survivor.
Instead, you willhead to the Braelyn Bridge.If you have both the Glider and Grappling Hook, you will easily be able to cross the bridge. Use the Grappling Hook to cross the initial gap, and then glide from the top of the bridge to the small platform at the end.
Above, you’re able to see thespot where you should start gliding from.If you miss, just glide to the bottom and travel through the Shroud, which is the alternative way to cross over.
Traveling Through The Shroud To Reach The Sleeping Survivor
If you don’t have a Grappling Hook and Glider, don’t worry! You can still reach the other side, you will justneed to venture into the Shroud.Thankfully, the journey isn’t too treacherous.
At this point, it’s likely that you don’t have the Glider or Grappling Hookif you haven’t spent too much time in the Shroud.
To therightof the Braelyn Bridge, you will see alittle wooden arch heading down.This marks the entrance of the Shroud path. Once inside the Shroud,continue to head north, directly across the chasm.While crossing, you canfollow the wooden archesthat lead directly to the other side.
Once crossed, you will see theentrance of a cave area.Head up here and follow the curve to a higher piece of land. Facing toward the bridge, you should now see ametal frame that you can climb up.Climb this, and you are out of the Shroud!
From here, you just need tohead directly towards the Ancient Vault.Outside, you will find a few enemies that can easily be taken down. Be careful though,there may be some bees in the area.If you see a suspicious cloud approach you,run and attack with a wand.
With the outside cleared, head into the vault andinteract with the capsule holding the sleeping survivor and wake them up.There may be anenemy inside, so don’t drop your guard just yet. Like the others though, the enemy should be easy to take out.
How To Summon The Blacksmith
With the Blacksmith found,you are now able to summon him,which allows you to place this NPC in your base. To do this, you will first need tomake a Summoning Staff.Fortunately, this just takesone twig.If you don’t have this on hand, run around outside and gather some from bushes and small trees.
At this point, you canfast-travel back to your base.Once you’ve arrived, whip out your Summoning Staff and left-click. This will give you some options, but since you only have the Blacksmith, this is the only NPC that you can place.
Once clicked, you canplace the Blacksmith anywhere within your base’s border. The Blacksmithdoes not need a shop/home prior to placing him;instead, this will be the next task. Placing him will unlock a few new options, so now, it’s time to start building a Blacksmith shop!
you’re able to use the Summoning Staff again toreposition the Blacksmith.This will come in handy once you build his house are deciding where to have him stand. Placeable NPCs will not move, meaning thathe will stay where you put him down.
As a reward for completing this quest, you willreceive 150 XP in addition to unlocking this NPC.
