Once you reach the Hometree and meet the Aranahe Clan inAvatar: Frontiers Of Pandora, the game opens up to side quests, including ones back at the Resistance Headquarters. Upon returning to that point, Alexander will want to talk with you to start the Field Research Quest.
After you start the quest, you’ll run into multiple challenges, such as reaching the location, finding Springtree Fruit, and making it back to the base alive. If you’re struggling with the quest, or simply want to know what you can expect when you reach the area, using a guide will walk you through each step and help you complete the quest.
Go Between The Great Oak And Falls Field Labs
Alexander wants you to go to the waypoint on your map, so if you want to make it straightforward,fast travelto theHometree,thentravel west.
You’ll need to cross a river, and you’ll see alarge mountainwithmultiple pink trees on it,sotravel northwest from it. You’ll cross some more water and will eventually hear Alexander through your communications.
If you’re having trouble finding the right area, open your map, and look for theGossamer LakesorShadow Wood. You’ll need to be in theBig Leaf biome, so run around this region until you get your next instructions.
How To Find Spineberry Fruit
You’ll need Spineberry Fruit for this quest. They can be found in aFlamingo Orchid, which is ablue plant while closed,butreveals a pink butterfly design when it opens. The plant will launch an attack at you, so strafe around it until it attacks and closes.
Once it closes, you can approach the plantand gather the Spineberry Fruit. If you have trouble finding them,use your Sense abilityuntil you see its butterfly outline, then approach the plant.
The Hunter’s Guide specifies thatyou can find it in the Big Leaf biomes in Kinglor Forest.
Even though the quest says to collect five of them,you only need a few before the next part begins.
Escape The Thanator
As you start to collect Spineberry Fruit,the screen’s edge will start to develop a white aura, and you won’t be able to use your Sense. When this happens, you need to leave, because a Thanator is hunting you.
Don’t attempt to fight it, since it’s a level 20 monster that can defeat you in two hits.Run southeast until the aura goes awayby sticking to high areas and constantly sprinting.
You don’t need to encounter the Thanatorto trigger the next part, so just immediately run.
After you escape, and you can use your Sense again,Alexander will talk with youandask you to return to the base. You can either walk back while tackling other quests or fast travel if you want to finish the quest.
