There are dozens of resources available inArk: Survival Ascendedranging from simple fiber to parts from dangerous creatures. One material that you can gather pretty early in the game is Chitin, which is a hard material found in creatures with exoskeletons.
Rather than finding Chitin in the wild and collecting it, you will most likely have to defeat a creature first. Chitin has a few uses, with Cementing Paste and Chitin armor being the most important. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how you can obtain and efficiently farm Chitin.

Where To Find Chitin
There are a few different creatures that you may harvest Chitin, butinsects are one of the best sources of Chitin in Ark: Survival Ascended.This includesTrilobites, which are quite common on beaches and shores.
You can also harvest Chitin from insects that are found in theWrithing Swamps.This is a swampland that extends through the middle of The Island below the Redwood Forests.
Trilobites will also dropBlack Pearls, Oil,Silica Pearls, and meat.Trilobites are quite noticeable while scurrying across sand, and theydon’t attack back.Additionally, they die in one or two hits, allowing you toquickly gather Chitin from them.
Best Area To Farm Chitin
You have a few options when deciding where to farm Chitin. If you are a bit scared of heading into The Island from the beaches, then you cangather Chitin by patrolling the sandy shore and killing any Trilobites that you see.As mentioned above, they don’t attack back, so you’ll be safe.
If you feel confident in exploring The Island, we highly recommendventuring to the Writhing Swamps.Here, you can also find Achatina, which look likegiant snails.This creature will drop Chitin when defeated; they arepretty common in swampy areas, making them a great source of Chitin.
What To Do With Chitin
Once you have a supply of Chitin, there are a few things that you can do with it.
Cementing Paste
Chitin is most often used to craftCementing Paste, which requires the following materials.
With this material, you can make Cementing Paste at a Mortar and Pestle.
Chitin Armor
