If you want to have a long run without having to reset your quota, it’s important to know exactly what the enemy does, especially when it comes to enemies that can one-shot you like the Nutcracker. You might not face it often, but here’s what you should do if you find it.

How To Defeat Nutcracker
The most important thing to remember about the Nutcracker is thatyou might not even find it until you’re a little later into your run. This enemy has a very low chance of spawning on the free moons, but the chances of getting it become much higher on high-tier moons like Rend, Dine, and Titan.
Rend has thehighest chance to spawn this enemy, making it the best place to go if you want to hunt it down.
If this enemy spawns during your run, it’ll be hard to miss it since it makesdistinct sounds when it’s walking or rotating its body. Unfortunately, the sound of your footsteps when you’re walking on black and white tiles in the mansion map also sounds similar to the Nutcracker rotating, so beware of mistaking it.

Nutcracker’s shotgun has two bullets, andit one-shots you if you don’t have an object to hide behind. The idea is to first get it aggroed on you and then instantly go behind an object while it winds up the shot.
After the first shot, do the same again and bait out the second shot. Once it shoots twice,the Nutcracker will go into an animation of reloading its weapon. This is the perfect time to quickly run up to it and get one or two shovel hits depending on your distance. You can always do one hit just to be safe.

Once defeated, the Nutcracker will fall flat on the ground and you can take its shotgun and two ammo for it. The gun already has two bullets, andthe other two bullets take a slot of your inventory each. However, this is the best weapon you can get in the game since it can even defeat a Bracken in just two shots.
If you’re not planning to use the shotgun, make sure to turn on its safety as ithas a chance of shooting randomly by itself with the safety off. After the first Nutcracker kill, you can just use the shotgun to defeat the subsequent ones and get a ton of these weapons.
