When you’ve survived for any time inProject Zomboid,it’s easy for the bodies of the undead to accumulate near where you’re living. This can be a problem for aesthetic reasons and it has the potential to make you sick.

Thankfully, you can burn corpses to get rid of them with a campfire, ridding you of the risk of sickness for a while. However, you must be careful not to spread the fire to the surrounding area and cause undue harm to your base.

How To Safely Burn Corpses

There are many ways to get sick and die in Project Zomboid, so ensuring that youhave ways to clear the undead’s bodieswhen they start piling upwill help you survivemuch longer. The best way to do that would be tomake a Campfire Materials kitand place it.

How To Make A Campfire

To make Campfire Materials, you’llneed either two logs or three planks, afire source, and one of the following fuel sources:

If you’re desperate, you canrip up worn-out or destroyed clothesto get ripped sheets and have a fuel source. Once you have the materials, you’llpress the hammer and checkmarkbutton on the left side of the screen toopen the crafting menu.

Type orselect “Campfire Materials.“Once crafted,Right-Click and select ‘Build a Fire’where you want one from the menu.

Beware, as zombies can be attracted to the light that the campfire gives off.

How To Dispose Of Bodies Using The Campfire

Before you light the campfire, for whichyou’ll need one more fuel sourcein your inventory, you should line up the bodies you want to get rid of around the campfireso that they touch it. When you light the fire,it should ignite the bodiesand turn them into black piles of ash fairly quickly.

Do not try and place the bodieswhile the campfire is lit, or you have a high chance ofcausing your character severe burns.

If the body doesn’t disappear within around 15 seconds, it’s likelybecause it isn’t touching the fire. Douse the flames, move the body, and then light it again. However, be warned thatthis will require another fuel sourceand use up more of your fire.

Beware Of Safety Risks

Using fire to dispose of bodiesdoes have its risksthough, as fire can spread easily. If a zombie walks through the fire, this creates an even more dangerous situation asthey can become walking fireballsuntil they die, or you put them down. If they get too close, they can ignite you too.

If a fire has begun to spread,it will start consuming everythingin adjacent squares. This is why building yourcampfire away from your base is wiseto keep zombies, other players, or yourself from accidentally creating a disaster.

You canuse fire extinguishers or waterto extinguish it when the fire spreads, but thiscan get rid of valuable resources. It’s best to just play it safe from the start andsafeguard against any potential fire hazards.
