Every character has a background and origin that makes them unique, and one of the most unique and intriguing backgrounds is the Dark Urge. With a forgotten past and a dangerous desire to harm those around you, it’s only natural to seek a cure to the madness.
For those who want to pursue a noble route and cure their Dark Urge character to be a hero, there is a crucial moment where you can do so, though it will take time to reach it if you can stave off your instincts long enough to reach it.
What Is The Dark Urge
The Dark Urge is aunique origin for custom characters. There can only be one in a playthrough at any time, and it must be a custom character. This route tends to beincredibly dark and violent, so it’s not for the faint of heart.
However, thestruggle to control your Dark Urgecharacter and keep them from lashing out and harming the people around them can be a worthy endeavor.
Taking the moral high ground andtrying to uncover the truth behind your pastwill take more than just skill–you’ll need luck on your side as well to pass the ability checks and keep your party alive.
How To Cure The Dark Urge
To cure your Dark Urge, you’ll need toreach the Temple of Bhaalin Act Three. While theconfrontation with Oringoes differently as the Dark Urge, the idea remains the same: Orin is a formidable foe.
It doesn’t matter how you defeat her, whether youusethe Slayer Formor not, only that youemerge victorious from the battle. When you do, you’ll encounter the embodiment of Bhaal. Your dark father will offer you his blessing: a gift.
This is a critical point in the Dark Urge playthrough, regardless of how many times you gave in to or rejected your dark impulses. You cannot change this later.
You mustreject Bhaal’s Avatarand the gift. This is the only way torid your character of their Dark Urge. Once you turn your back on Bhaal, you will be struck down. Thankfully, someone more powerful intervenes and brings you back from the brink.
Cured from the Dark Urge, you arefinally your own person again. This means that there willno longer be any Dark Urge choicesthat can harm your party members directly or control your actions for you.
You canpursue a heroic endingand live as a triumphant hero now, havingcompleted your character arcand overcoming your Dark Urge.
