It can feel overwhelming trying to figure out your quickslot for healing and how to cure afflictions in the game. This article goes over everything you need to know about your health in Starfield. After all, afflictions and an orange health bar can stop you from healing and surviving the odds.
How To Heal In Starfield
On PC, your quickslot for healing will automatically be the zero key.You can open your hotbar by holding down Q. On console or controller, you can press any direction on theD-padto open your quickslot.
There are plenty of different consumables you can collect in the game. As you find them in the game, you have the option to consume them right then and there or to pick it up.
All healing items are found under Aid in your inventory. By hovering over them individually, you will be able to read the different things they do, such as cure infections or increase your carry capacity.

What Does An Orange Health Bar Mean?
When your health bar is starting to turn orange, this means that you aretaking environmental damage. You will usually bump into this when exploring a new, inhabited planet.Stepping into toxic gas fumesor a toxic lake will affect your health and this orange bar will start to fill up.
With this effect on your health bar, you will not be able to heal past the orange. This effectivelydecreases your maximum health. To get rid of this debuff, you canenter any ship, including your own.
How To Heal Afflictions In Starfield
When you take environmental damage, it can cause you to have afflictions. Afflictions are things like Lung Damage or Lacerations which will give you a debuff depending on the type. Examples of a debuff caused by afflictions are Bleeding, or a Cough that won’t go away and causes you to take O2 damage over time.
