Lords Of The Fallenhas upheld its promise of delivering new content post-release, and the latest update introduces a host of additions. This includes new spells, performance optimizations, and notably, a new secret quest known as The Way of the Bucket.
In typical soulslike fashion, we anticipated minimal guidance, and the developers did just that by providing cryptic lines to help unravel the mystery behind this quest. After much exploration, we’ve successfully unveiled the steps to solve the Way of the Bucket questline event. This guide will walk you through each necessary step.
Where To Find The Bucket NPC
Before we begin, the developers have provided us with some clues to unravel the secrets of the buckets. Take a look at it:
“When time came to do or die, they emerged from their throes,
With meagre improvisations, spreading such desperate blows.
Should you as well seek meaning in these humble souls' disguise,
Don makeshift twin attire and find the one that lies.
Salute, attest and once more show honour to their semblance,
And you’ll amass the sincere gifts of one held in remembrance.
Yet hoard not without measure, show mutual regard,
For greed amongst the downtrodden is seen as truly marred.”
The first step involvesfinding the new NPCintroduced in this update, located at theSanctuary of Baptism/Vestige of Chabui. From the Vestige, climb up the ladders nearby andproceed straight ahead.
Shortly after,destroy the barrelsobstructing the path, revealinga man wearing peculiar buckets behind bars.
Using your Umbral lamp allows you to bypass the gate and interact with him. However, during the first interaction,he won’t respond.
This is because you need a specific item and a series of gestures to initiate this quest.
How To Get The Broken Bucket And The Bucketlord’s Salute
To get started, make sure you havethe Broken Bucket, which you can find right where the Bucket NPC is located. If you don’t have it yet,pick it up from there.
The second important item is a new gesture calledBucketlord’s Salute, also located nearby. Go back to the starting vestige, head outside, andtake the left side.Look for a group of wooden barrels to the left that you can break. Once you’ve done that, you can pick up the Bucketlord’s Salute.
Now that you have these items, go back to the Bucket NPC. Before you talk to him,verify you have the Broken Bucket equipped as your main weapon. Then, perform the series of emotes explained below in front of him.
Begin with theGreetingemote, followed byPointing Downward, and finish with theBucketlord’s Salute.
Once you’ve done these three emotes, go ahead andinteract with the Bucket NPC. The dialogue prompt will say, “The pride of the Bucketlords has been reaffirmed.”
This is your signal that you’ve kicked off the quest and are all set for the actual challenge.
Where To Find The Pride Of The Bucketlords
Now, your next job is to find items calledPride of the Bucketlordsand bring them to the Bucket NPC. You’ll need a total of 12 to finish the quest. These items are spread out inthe arenas of 12 different bossesyou’ve either already fought or are about to face.
Every time you collectfour Pride of the Bucketlords, you need to head back to the Bucket NPC, interact with him, and hand them over to claim your reward.
If you have five or more, he won’t engage with you, andyou will miss out on completing the quest.

In the cave area just before reaching the Path of Devotion, you’ll requirethe Pilgrim’s Perch Keyto gain access.

After you reach this location, keep following the path to the left side.
Warning: It appears that advancing in Damarose’s quest or going too far in the gameprevents you from obtaining the Pride of the Bucketlords from him, leading to an inability to complete the Way of the Bucket quest. We learned this the hard way.

After you unlock the bell door usingthe Fief Key, the boss will be inside the cave.

Ascend the ladder fromFief of the Chill Curse/Vestige of Svorniland continue along the path. You’ll come acrossa bridgethat takes you to the other side. Cross it, andafter dropping down, enterthe room on the left.

Right beforethe door that needs Abbot Vernoff’s Key, turn back andtake the stairs on the left. Ascend the stairs, thenturn rightto find an arena for a boss fight.

All The Rewards For Completing The Way Of The Bucket Questline Event
Once you’ve gathered the initial four Pride of the Bucketlords, you’ll be rewarded withthe Bucketlord Shoesfrom the Bucket NPC. After collecting the next set of four, you’ll receivethe Bucketlord Helm.
For the last set of four, the Bucket NPC won’t give you anything, but there will be a message saying, “Seek gold amidst flames.”
Now, for the final step of the quest, make your way toLower Calrath Alehouse/Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch. Drop down, turn left, andexit the building through the hole in the wall. After that, head straight andfollow the path downward to the right, leading to an open area with a bonfire in the middle.
Stick to the left sidefrom here and continue until you reachan open door with a bunch of broken buckets nearby.
Inside this room, you’ll findthe Gilded Bucket weapon, an upgraded version of the Broken Bucket you already have.
