Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’sZombies mode features a multi-act quest chain that awards exclusive cosmetics, large bundles of XP, and even a unique operator skin. Completing every Act mission can be a daunting task, especially for solo players, but most of these missions are trivial when you know what to expect.
Act 2’s final mission, Shepherd, is a great example of this. This mission throws dozens of armed soldiers and special zombies your way, but a geared squad that knows what to expect can crush this mission within their first try. Before you attempt to complete this mission, let’s first explain what you’ll need.

How To Start The Shepherd Mission
The Shepherd mission is available at the end of Act 2: Mother Of Invention within the MWZ quest chain.Similar to Act 1’s finale, Shepherd will send your character to an instanced location where you must fight dozens of armored mercenaries and zombies.You’ll want to be geared before attempting this.
We recommend you bring the following:
Lockwood 680 With Slugs
Currently, there’s a bug where Pack-A-Punching the Lockwood 680 with Slug Rounds and the Defender Heavy Barrel will cause it to gain buckshot behavior with slug ammunition, drastically increasing its damage. This is a good pick if you’re attempting to solo this mission.
Evac From Urzikstan
Shortly after you load into Urzikstan, multiple evac points will become available to use.One of these evac points will be called “Shephard” and have a golden star.You’ll want to use this evac point to start the mission.So long as the gas hasn’t reached the extraction zone, you may use the Shephard evac point at any point during your MWZ match.
It’s also worth noting thatany items you have will carry over to this mission.We highly recommend Pack-A-Punching at least one weapon to T3 and acquiring as many perks as possible before starting. When you’re ready, call in the evac helicopter and get in. After a short loading screen, the Shepherd mission should start.

Deploy To Neutralizer Test Site
This mission will take you to the shoreline that runs along the western coast of Urzikstan. When you jump out of the helicopter and land on the beach,immediately run into the nearby buildings.This will give you cover from the enemy soldiers and snipers that dot the nearby rooftops.
Your goal is todestroy two SAM turretslocated on the roof of a nearby building. The building is marked on your HUD and fairly easy to reach. There will be a small group of soldiers guarding the outside of the building. Try to take them out before entering the building.

Inside the structure will be another group of soldiers, most of which will be heavily armored.Pick off the enemies one-by-one from the edge of the building, running outside if the enemies get close. When the room is clear, you can use the rope near the corners of the room to ascend the building.
The roof will have two SAM turrets that must be destroyed with explosives.Walk up to the SAM turret and interact with it to place an explosive charge.The turret will then detonate after a few seconds. Enemies will begin to swarm the rooftop the second you arrive, soclear out the mercenaries first.
Successfully Test The Neutralizer
With both SAM turrets destroyed, the Neutralizer can now be safely deployed.Head to the flare on the southern end of the map and defend the area.A helicopter filled with mercenaries will spawn after a few seconds. Let the zombies attack them first, then kill any remaining enemies.
The Neutralizer should spawn at this point.Head to the ACV and activate it.This section is identical to the MWZ Escort Contracts. You muststay near the ACV and escort it to the back of the map.Zombies will repeatedly spawn during this section, some of which will be special units like Manglers and Disciples.Stand atop of the ACV to keep it moving.
Mega Abominations
A Mega Abomination will spawn towards the end of this mission. This enemy type is weak toNapalm Roundsand takes critical damage when any of its three heads are glowing. Sustained damage to a specific head will cause it to explode. Destroy all three heads for a quick kill.
When the Neutralizer reaches its destination,interact with it to begin the test.The tesla coil above the vehicle will activate and begin to zap the nearby zombies. It’s not quite enough to protect the ACV, but it should make this part a little easier.Keep eliminating zombies until you receive the go-ahead to detonate the Neutralizer.Activate the ACV one more time to finish the mission.
