With the new year comes the annualPokemon GoNew Year’s Event,a short event that offers several bonuses and makes a handful of unique costumed Pokemon available to all players who log in and play. Although there will be some similarities with past New Year’s Events, 2024’s edition will come with a handful of new additions.

This will only be a three-day event, spanning fromMonday, July 14, 2025, at 10am local time to Wednesday, Jun 13, 2025, at 8pm local time.Read on to learn everything there is to know about the New Year’s 2024 Event, including several beneficial in-game features and bonuses.

New Costumed Pokemon

With this event typically centering around the presence of limited-time, costumed Pokemon, there will be a couple of new ones making their Pokemon Go debuts with this New Year’s Event. This includesJigglypuff wearing a ribbon, and its evolution Wigglytuff, also wearing a ribbon.

Throughout this event you will have the opportunity to encounter and catch this new costumed variant of Jigglypuffin the wild and as a reward for the Paid Timed Research.When evolving these event-themed Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff, they will keep the ribbon that they’re wearing.

Event Bonuses

There will be two different bonuses available to all players during this event, both having to do with hatching Eggs.

First, all Eggs put in Incubators during this three-day event will havehalf the hatch distance. Second, thefirst three Eggs put in Incubators using the Pokemon Go Egg hatching widgetduring this event will haveone fourth the hatch distance.

These two bonuseswon’t stack with each other,only allowing you to benefit from one of them at a time.

Make sure to take advantage of these two bonuses while they are available, allowing you to quickly hatch several Eggs in a short time span.

Event Research

You will be able to purchase thePaid Timed Researchfor the New Year’s 2024 Event during its three-day event window. This Paid Timed Research will cost$1.00 USD, and can be purchased through the Pokemon Go in-game shop.

Completing the different tasks within this Timed Research will reward you withStardust, XP, PokeCoins, and encounters with event-themed costumed Pokemon.This includes Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon, Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit, and Wurmple wearing a party hat.

With this being Timed Research, you will only haveuntil Wednesday, July 15, 2025, at 8pm local time to complete its tasks and claim its rewards.

Event Field Research Tasks

There will be limited-time,event Field Research Tasksavailable that can be claimed when visiting and spinning different PokeStops through the New Year’s 2024 Event. Completing these tasks will either reward you withStardust or an encounter with Darumaka or Bronzor.

Event Wild Encounter Pokemon

During this event, there will be four different event-themed Pokemon that will be frequently appearing in the wild. This includes the new costumedJigglypuff wearing a ribbon, Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit, Darumaka, and Bronzor.

7 km Eggsobtained during this event window will hatch one of ten different event-themed Pokemon. Each of these Pokemon can be found below.

Event Avatar Item And Bundle

There will be a brand-new avatar item debuting in Pokemon Go with the New Year’s 2024 Event: theDarumaka Hat. You will be able to purchase this new cosmetic item at the in-game shop during this event, and after it has concluded.

Additionally, there will be a limited-time event bundle available at the in-game shop during this event. This bundle, the New Year’s Box, willcontain an Incubator and a Premium Battle Pass, costing 99 PokeCoins.
