As an aspiring Musical Genius, your Sim will be prompted tomaster instruments, write songs, and listen to music.In total, this aspiration will award your Sim with4,925 Satisfaction Pointsto spend in the Rewards Store.

Becoming a Musical Genius requires dedication, talent, and a good bit of time. Improving musical skills is a simple yet time-consuming task, requiring Sims to tickle the ivories and pluck at guitar strings for hours at a time.

The first milestone in the Musical Genius aspiration is very easy to surpass. You’ll need to buy at least two items from Build Mode to fulfill both tasks: an instrument and a stereo.

TheKaboom Boxis the cheapest base game stereo at just §150, while theCafe Wall Speakerfrom The Sims 4: Get Together Expansion Pack costs a bit less at §120.

Before you buy an instrument for your Sim to learn, keep in mind that each instrument your Sim plays counts as a different skill (for example: Piano skill, Guitar skill, etc.), and only one instrument is necessary for the Musical Genius aspiration.

As far as instruments go, your Sim can learn piano, guitar, or violin. If you have the Vampires expansion pack, your Sim can also learn the pipe organ.

Beyond physically practicing an instrument, your Sim can also read skill books associated with your instrument. You can purchase skill books by clicking on a bookcase and selecting"Purchase Books."

Your Sim canbecome Inspiredby taking a thoughtful shower, using the molding clay, browsing art on the computer, or plucking/plunking/bowing for inspiration on an instrument.

Write Four Songs (400 Satisfaction Points)

The third milestone of the Musical Genius aspiration is more lengthy than the previous steps.

Sims canbegin to write songsat level eight of any instrument skill by selecting the “Write Song” action on your Sim’s instrument. It takes abouteight hours for your Sim to complete a song, sometimes requiring multiple writing sessions.

Once your Sim’s song is finished, you canlicense it by clicking on your Sim’s mailbox. Songs can only be licensed after your Sim achieves level nine in their instrument.

The biggest challenge of the Musical Genius aspiration’s fourth step is mentoring another Sim. To perform this action, your Sim will have to witness another Sim playing the instrument that they have leveled.

Your Sim won’t be able to mentor another Sim in a skill until they have leveled it themselves.

Instead of waiting around for a townie to pick up a guitar, trycommanding another Sim in your household to practicethe instrument and then switch back to your musician Sim. As their housemate is playing, they will be able to mentor them.

Musical Genius Aspiration Reward Trait: Piper

When your Sim completes the Musical Genius aspiration, they will be rewarded with an exclusive trait. The Piper trait gives your Sim the ability toplay unique songs that influence others.

Your Sim may need to play a song more than once for it to work. When used correctly, these songs can make certain situations easier, harder, or just plain weirder.

There are four songs that your Sim unlocks with the Piper reward trait:

Makes all Sims nearby swap their everyday outfit for elegant formal wear. While this song doesn’t have many practical applications, it is fun to play with!

Ditty of Drowsiness

Lulls all nearby Sims to sleep. The Ditty of Drowsiness is particularly helpful for getting Sims to burn off inconvenient moodlets.

Forces all Sims who do not belong to your household to leave the lot. Use this song when you have unwanted visitors.
