Just when you thought you were done with spooky season, Hisuian Typhlosion, the ghost and fire-type variant of the Johto starter, appears inPokemon Scarlet & Violetas a seven-star Tera Raid! This is the first time Hisuian Typhlosion will be catchable outside of Pokemon Legends Arceus, which makes it even more exciting to snag.
For this battle, Hisuian Typhlosion will specialize in inflicting status effects, so it can take advantage of its signature move: Infernal Parade. However, it doesn’t have a lot of tricks up its sleeve, so if you may counter that, you’re golden.

Event Info
This event will run until 23:59 UTC on November 5th but will come back from 0:00 UTC Friday, November 10th to 23:59 on Sunday, November 12th.
To unlock this event, you must have unlocked Black Tera Raids and completed the main story. Hisuian Typhlosion will come with the Mightiest Mark and has perfect IVs.

Hisuian Typhlosion’s Build
Hisuian Typhlosion will have its hidden ability Frisk and the following moves:
Status
-
Burns the target, lowering their Attack and damaging them every turn.

Creates harsh sunlight that boosts the power of Fire-type moves and weakens Water-type moves.
Special
60
A Ghost-type move that doubles its damage when the target has a status effect.
90
A fire-type move that has a chance of leaving the opponent burned.
120
A powerful Fighting-type move that often misses and has a chance to drop your Special Defense.
Hisuian Typhlosion will start by burning your Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp, set up Sunny Day, and thenhit you with Infernal Parade for massive damage.
It will also sometimes switch things up with Flamethrower or Focus Blast, but it’s ultimately a very straightforward battle.
Counters To Typhlosion
The best way to counter Typhlosion is to avoid getting burned. If you bring a Pokemon immune to being burned, Hisuian Typhlosion will keep trying to use Wil-O-Wispuntil you’re around 3/4s of its health.
This makes the best Pokemon for this raidDachsbun and Baxcalibur, whether you’re soloing or in a group.
Moves that prevent status effects such as Misty Terrain and Safeguard do not lead to Typhlosion spamming Will-O-Wisp, it will simply move on to its other attacks.
252 Defense/252 HP/6 Sp. Def
Body Press
Dachsbun’s Well-Baked Body makes it immune to fire-type moves and will increase its Defense every time it’s hit. This means when Hisuian Typhlosion keeps using Will-O-Wisp trying to burn you,it just boosts your Defense.
Body Press is a Fighting-type move thatcalculates damage using your Defense instead of your Attack. All you have to do is keep using Body Press, Terastalize at the first opportunity, and you will be able to finish off Hisuian Typhlosion quickly.
Use a PP Up on Body Press to make sure you don’t run out of power points.
252 Attack/252 Sp. Def/6 HP
Dragon Claw
Baxcalibur is slightly less reliable than Dachsbun but works for the same reasons. Thermal Exchange makes you immune to being burned, but Hisuian Typhlosion will keep trying to use it.
While it doesn’t make you immune to Flamethrower,it does boost your attack if you’re hit with it.By Terastalizing into a pure dragon-type, you’ll also resist the hit. Use the same strategy of spamming Dragon Claw, Terastalizing at the first opportunity, and then continuing until you win.
This will take slightly longer, and you might go down, but if you’re soloing, that should be fine so long as you’ve gotten through the shield by the time you faint.
For Baxcalibur, if you want to save on Tera Shards you can theoretically also do this with any move that you have a powerful physical move for. However, be surewhatever Tera Type you choose is not weak to fire, ghost, or fighting.
If you’re soloing this raid, both of these have the potential to fail once Typhlosion is out of its loop of using Will-O-Wisp and starts using other moves, in particular, if you’re unlucky with Focus Blasts. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it on the first try.
