Classified Information is an optional side quest inWarhammer 40,000: Rogue Traderconcerning the Lord Captain’s inheritance. As you explore your new voidship, you’ll find that Theodora kept some sensitive data on remote cogitators throughout her domain. This information can’t be retrieved from the ship; you’ll have to find the hidden cogitators and visit them in person with the correct clearances.
As it turns out, Theodora was pretty good at hiding things. With this guide, you’ll be able to track down your predecessor’s secrets and put them to use in writing your own chapter in the annals of the Von Valancius dynasty.
How To Start The Classified Information Quest
In Act Two, Pasqal will inform you that he’s discoveredencrypted data in the ship’s cogitator banksthat only the Rogue Trader can access. Once this happens, visit themain cogitatornear the galaxy map; it’s in the small corridor where Janris Danrok is standing.
Access the cogitator ask it about the data, thenplace your hand in its mawto perform a blood test confirming your identity. Continue speaking until it identifies two planets with hidden data-banks;Kiava GammaandDargonus.
How To Find The Classified Information On Kiava Gamma
Kiava Gamma is part of the main quest, but it’s recommended that youdon’t try to retrieve the datauntil you’ve defeated the Fabricator-Censor and the Screamer of Tzeentch bosses to pacify the planet. The traps protecting the data-furnace are powerful enough to inflict some nasty status effects that can jeopardize your chances of surviving those fights!
Once the planet is secure,return to the area where you fought the Chaos Space Marineand open the large doors at the back. Inside is a cogitator that the Lord Captain can access with the clearance received from the ship. Activating the cogitatorreveals a hidden door on the opposite wall.
The door requires a wheel crank to open. Go back outside andlook to the southfor a wheel in one of the mine carts. Have a character make anAthletics testto move the rubble blocking the cart; if they fail, the rubble is still moved but they’ll suffer a stack ofFatigue.
When the rubble is clear,pull the nearby brake lever to move the cart.It will roll down the track, stopping at a point where you canclimb onto a nearby platformand recover the wheel from inside.
Make sure nobody is standing on the track when you release the brakes - getting hit by the cart deals enough damage to inflict a Trauma!
Use the wheel to open the hidden door, butbe careful when you enter; there areflame traps to either side. Disable them with aDemolitions testor carefully walk past them with the Lord Captain.
The data-furnace can disable the traps, but you’llstill suffer a gas trap when you download the data- all the more reason to do this after the boss fights, not before.
How To Find The Classified Information On Dargonus
Inside the Von Valancius Palace,go to your bedroomand interact with the book on the nightstand. Doing so will revealTheodora’s saferoom.Inside,sit on the couch under the paintingat the far side of the room.
You’ll be given several prompts. First, open the wine bottle labeledFlame Of Purity.Next, start reading the book titledLitanies Of The Motive Force.Finally, change the music to playThe Symphony Of Honour And Duty, Part 2.
Getting any of the inputs wrong will trigger the security system. This only results in a cutscene, but you’ll have to start the process over.
If you select all the correct objects, you’llreceive Theodora’s encrypted datafrom Dargonus.
How To Decrypt The Classified Data
The data can be decryptedback at the main cogitator on the voidship bridge. Individually, they provide notes that you can read from your inventory, suggesting Theodora was in deeper over her head than she first seemed. When both have been decrypted, the attending Tech-Priest will inform you of irregularities in the ship’s machine-spirit, ending the quest and deepening the mystery.
