Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’sZombies mode received a new Act quest in its first season, adding a new endgame zone for experienced players to conquer. This zone features some of MWZ’s most sought-after schematics and endgame items.

But before you venture into the Dark Aether, you will want to come prepared. The Bad Signal quest serves as an introduction to the Dark Aether zone, although it has a fairly tough boss fight that can be incredibly tough to beat solo. This guide will explain how to complete this mission from start to finish, including gear recommendations, quest steps, and tips on how to beat the final boss.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Bad Signal Prep

Preparing For The Mission

The Bad Signal story mission isimmediately available to all playersupon booting up MWZ. You don’t need to complete any previous Acts to start this mission. With that said, this mission is balanced for a squad of 3-6 players with endgame gear.We highly suggest joining a squad and gearing up before attempting this. It is possible to solo this mission, but it’s extremely difficult; come prepared.

This mission contains aworm boss fightthat isnotoptional, so be sure to plan your loadout accordingly. We recommend the following:

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Anomaly Portal

The zombies in this mission are Medium Threat (T2). Weapons should have T2 Pack-A-Punch and the highest rarity possible, preferably Epic (purple).

Investigate The Anomaly

When you first spawn into Urzikstan, you will see a massive Aether tornado inquadrant F6. This is where you’ll start the Bad Signal mission. Before you visit the anomaly, be sure your character is ready to fight a worm boss and multiple T2 zombies.

Any items you have will carry over to the Bad Signal mission, so feel free to prepare. Pack-A-Punch your weapons, get every perk, and stock up on Self-Revive Kits.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Anomaly Sigil

When your squad is ready, head to the anomaly and look for a triangular portal frame.Interact with it to queue up the mission. Your squad will need to majority vote to start the mission, even if you’re playing solo.you may vote to start by opening your map and holding the “Vote Yes” button.A majority vote will begin the instanced mission.

Beak The Seals

You have 30 minutes to complete the mission once it starts.

Your squad will be teleported to a zombified version of Al Bagra Fortress from Al Mazrah, one of Modern Warfare 2’s Warzone and DMZ maps. Your goal is todestroy four seals marked on your HUD before extracting. The minimap and expandable map are scrambled here, but the seal locations are conveniently marked on your HUD.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Aether Worm Boss

Activating a seal will project an elemental ring around the pillar, marking zombies within with a faint elemental effect. You must defeat zombies within the seal’s projected radius to charge it.Fully charging a seal will destroy it. you may use Decoy Grenades, Cymbal Monkies, or Kazimir Grenades to speed this part up.

Leave The Dark Aether

With the seals broken, it’s time to start the worm fight.Scavenge as many armor plates as possible, and grab any circuit boards you find. The circuits can be used to activate turret emplacements near the worm boss, making it significantly easier.

When you reach the Aether portal, theGorm’gant worm will spawn on the shore. You must defeat the worm before time runs out to exfil. Mechanically,it’s the same as the Orcus worm from Defeat Zakhaev. It has three core attacks:

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Orcus Worm Boss

Virtually all of these attacks may be ignored if youfight the worm while on a nearby roof.Fighting the worm too far from the shore will cause it to hide, so you’ll want to experiment from different vantage points. Should you run out of ammo,an ammo cache is stationed near the shore.Grab some ammo and retreat.

Burrow Bug

Gorm’gant can sometimes get stuck while in their burrow attack animation, refusing to resurface. You must damage the worm with an explosive weapon to fix this issue. We highly recommend bringing some sort of explosive item to this mission to ensure you may finish the fight in time.

As with Orcus,Gorm’gant’sweakpoints are its glowing scaleson each side of its body. Shooting them will deal critical damage, and dealing sustained damage will cause them to explode. Continue laying into the worm’s weakpoints until you break all of its scales. Once the worm dies, enter the Dark Aether portal to finish the mission.
