How To Carry Metal Items Outdoors During A Lightning Storm
A lot of metal items havehigh value, so it would be a shame to leave them behind in fear of getting struck by lightning. To stay safe whiledelivering your metal scraps to the ship, you just need some patience and quick thinking.
First, consider transporting your metal scraps one by oneinstead of in one go.
If you have friends with you, you caneach carry a single metal scrap, so you can quickly put it down.
When you leave behind your metal scraps, don’t leave them outside by any entrance. An unfortunate and unsuspecting crew mate might go through that entrance and get struck should the item you left attract lightning.
Next, head back to the ship whilecarefully listening for sound cues.
If a lightning bolt is about to strike your metal scrap, it’ll start makingelectric buzzing noises. You’ll have afew momentstopress G and put your item downbefore the lightning strikes the scrap.
While carrying your metal scrap to the ship, ensure you have it in your main hand.
You’ll need to be able todrop it quickly, and if an itemin your inventoryis sparking, you may not receive the lightning strike warning.
Once your scrap is on the ground, back away a few meters. The lightning strike’sdamage is AOE(area of effect), and you’ll get struck if you’re too close to the metal scrap.
After the lightning strikes the metal scrap, wait a few secondsto see if there are still electrical buzzing noises.
Lightning can strike it again, and the noises will be your indicator. If you don’t hear it,you may safely pick your scrap up againand continue your trek back to the ship.
If a crewmate is heading back with you, it’s better for you towalk a few meters apartso that you can avoid getting struck by lightning targeting an item dropped by the other crew.
You’ll need tobe patientas your scrap willattract lightningseveral timesbefore you make it back to the ship.
Once inside the ship, you don’t have to worry about lightning hitting you or your metal scrap. Just make sure that you drop itinside the ship. Theoutdoor area of the shipis still a danger zone when it comes to lighting.
A lightning striking the ship will causethe lights and monitors to switch off. Use thelight switch or the power button on the monitorto turn them back on. You can also use aremote.
Since you’ll probably be spending a lot of your time outside while you’re taking your metal items back, it’s best if youprioritize bringing them back before the other items, especially if their value is higher.
Also, once you get ahigh-value metal item, you should have someonebring it back immediately, especially when it’searly in the day.
The moons tend to be moreperilous at night, and you don’t want to get stuck transporting your precious metal scrapswhile the moon’s mobs are out and about.
