To collect different materials inLego: Fortniteyou will have to walk across some seriously long distances to travel between different biomes and bases. To reach these locations faster, you’re able to build your very own aircraft, complete with storage space, directional steering, and even the ability to land.

Since Lego: Fortnite does not currently have a steering wheel function, all the vehicles you’re able to construct will require careful placement and plenty of mid-game materials. If you are looking for an in-depth tutorial to help you take to the skies in Lego: Fortnite, check out the steps below.

Creating a working aircraft in Lego: Fortniteis significantly harder than other vehicles in the game,so we recommend you master the core mechanics and basics of the game before taking on this challenge.

How To Collect Aircraft Materials

Before you begin building any type of aircraft, you’ll already want to have at least one base and a large amount of resources. Remember thatyou will also have to travel toa Dry Valleyto collect Flexwood, the key component tomaking Dynamic Foundations, which are required to make any vehicle in the game.

Other than naturally occurring resources such as Wood, Vines, or Flexwood, you will also have tocollect items such as Blast Powder from skeletons,as this resource will be used to create Thrusters.

Finally, you’ll also need access to differentUtility Stations, such as theLoom and Spinning Wheelto craft items like Cords and Silk Fabric out of Wool.

To build your very own airship, here is the exact amount of basic resources you will need:

After you collect all these items, you may begin the process of constructing your aircraft.

If you are having difficulties collecting materials or constructing the aircraft, we recommendcreating a sandbox world to practice your building.

In a sandbox world, you will have access to an infinite amount of resources, thus providing an excellent method to practice this build before you take what you have learned into survival.

How To Build An Aircraft

To successfully build an aircraft that can fly, turn, and even land, you will have to follow twelve complex steps precisely.Follow these exact building techniquesto ensure that your airship can take off successfully and deliver you to your destinations quickly:

Description

Step 1

To begin the build, select theWooden Foundation 02in the build menuand stack three on top of each other. Then, create two Dynamic Foundations andplace them on top of the Wooden Foundations.

Step 2

Head back into the build menu to select theRustic Beam 04andplace four of them underneath the Dynamic Foundation. You can easily line this placement up with theyellow and black caution signson the front and back of the Dynamic Foundations.

Step 3

After completing step two, pick which side of the Dynamic Foundation you want to serve as the back of the airship. At the back of the ship, place theRustic Thin Floor 02in the shape of stairs, which requires youto place the floor nine times.

After creating the stairs, you candestroy the Wooden Foundationunderneath the Dynamic Foundations. This will cause the airship to fall to the ground, where you may continue building your creation.

Step 4

Select theRustic Wide Floor 02and place a floor on each of the two Dynamic Foundations.

Step 5

After placing the flooring, place a singularRustic Beam 02on the front side of your airship, andyou can even add two candlesonto this Rustic Beam if you want to provide light while you are flying.

Step 6

Place theRustic Railing 01eight times at the front of the airship, in the shape of the letter “T”. You can then select theRustic Railing Cornerand place one on each side of the railings, with the corner pieces opening towards each other.

Step 7

You will now place six blocks of theWooden Foundation 01, but you will have to carefully usenudge controlsto place these blocks in the correct area. By using the arrow keys on your PC, you can place the blocks within the fences.

After you place all six of the foundations, you then haveto punch out the bottom tier of foundationson each side. This will cause the top two pieces of foundations to float in the sky.

Step 8

You can now place aSmall Thrusterand anActivation Switchon the highest level of theWooden Foundation 01, but make sure the two thrusters are pointing indifferent directions. Also, remember to placea third activation switch on the floor of the airship.

Step 9

Similar to step seven, you now have to punch out the lowest layerof theWooden Foundation 01towers you have built. This will causethe blocks holding the thrusters and activation switchesto fall onto the Dynamic Foundations andget lodged safely in between the Rustic Fences.

Step 10

Use theRustic Thin Floor 02to further secure the pieces of foundation by placing two beams directly above the pieces that just fell. Then, you can finish off the fencing by placing two pieces ofRustic Railing 03on the sides of the aircraft.

Step 11

It is now time to place twoSmall Balloonson either side of the railings, as well as twoSmall Thrusterson the very back of the aircraft.

Step 12

Finally, you need to place twoLarge Balloonsonto the center of your build, which will cause the completed aircraft to lift into the air.

Now that the aircraft is completed, you will find yourself floating high in the sky. However, you may still be curious about how to make the airship move, or how to control which direction the aircraft is traveling.

How To Steer And Land An Aircraft

Currently, there is no steering wheel in Lego: Fortnite,so players have invented a workaround to this steering problem.Remember the pieces of Wooden Foundation that you had to randomly punch and slot in between fences on your airship?

Without doing this step, flicking any activation level on the ship would immediately activate all the thrusters attached to the Dynamic Foundation, thus causing the ship to spin in a random direction.

Since these pieces of Wooden Foundation were originally floating, the Small Thrusters attached to the foundation are not considered part of the main airship, thus allowing you to activate the back thrusters and the front thrusters independently.

If you want to turn left, then activate the right thruster while traveling forward, and vice versa for turning left.

Finally, if you want to safely land your airship, all you need to do is select any foundation and place a few blocks in the center of your ship.Placing these foundations will increase your ship’s weight, causing you to safely descend onto the ground.

If you want to head back into the skies, then just destroy the foundation blocks you have placedand return to your flight path with ease.
