Psaro and Rose have met an interesting fellow through Purgil, and that fellow, who can’t possibly be anything but benevolent, has advised you to head over to the Laboratory of Dr. Helix Helix. But Purgil thinks you’re still too rough around the fur to get the attention of so esteemed a scholar, so it’s back to the Maulosseum with you.
This time, ourDragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Princesights are on the Category E prize. Not the material prize (though we guess a Yggdrasil Leaf) is OK, but the notoriety that comes with the victory. Whether you’re looking for advice ahead of the matches, or you’re struggling to take home the gold, we’ve got you covered.

Maulosseum Rank E Overview
Entry Fee: 100 Gold Coins
The buy-in price for both the Maulosseum and the Endor Colosseum scales upward with rank. As you’ll have no doubt grown accustomed to by now,you will battle three sets of monsters in a row. The same rules apply here as in previous categories; you’re mercifully healed between rounds.
Gasbagon
Dessert Demon
The fights in Maulosseum Rank E are designed towear you down rather than beat you into submissionoutright. That’s not to say there aren’t hard hitters;Weartigerin Round Two, and bothDrakalurgeandRockbombin Round Three, spring to mind. But the opposition is built around at least one monster per match, which’ll do more to debilitate your beasties. This is especially vivid in the Round One, where bothAwebergineandKisserare present.
How To Beat Maulosseum E Rank
With Raph the scumbag giraffe down for the count, you’ll have an easier go of it scouting monsters back at theCircle of Temptation(Lower Echelon), and you ought to put that into practice. Not so much because we think there’s something on the roster here that screams ‘level me up and bring me to the Maulosseum posthaste’.
But since reserve party members gain half experience, and monster depot stowaways gain a quarter, it’s never a bad idea tobegin building new species' Talent Points to help supplement your main line with synthesis-fueled boosts for the frontline fighters youdochoose.

We’re going to detail the party we took into battle at the Maulosseum Rank E, but don’t take that to mean you need to build yours identically. Instead, think of our choices as broad guidance, since we found their individual focuses to be of particular strength here - but there areother monsters who can fill the same roles.
Dark Sabrecub
Physical Attacker
Critical Triumphelevates the likelihood of critical attacks. Consider having it useSandstormto lower your enemies' accuracy.Wind Sickles, should you raise its skill tree high enough, ought to do considerable damage. Note thata Great Sabrecub works fine hereas well.
Raptile
Raptile is one of ourmain early-game synthesis suggestions.FrizzmeistermeansFire Breathwill do decent damage, and if you’ve taken the time to getFlame Breath, your Raptile is going to be an army unto itself. You don’t need to go quite that far, though.
Bullfinch
Bullfinch is justbrutal to beholdby Rank E standards. Have it learnHatchet Manif you may, which will often miss - not good! - but will do extreme damage when it hits - very good! In our experience, it’s worth the risk.Helm Splitteris a great (not to mention, easier to obtain) standby if you’d rather not risk it.
Slime Stack
Healer and Supporter
Of all these party members, Slime Stack’s species is arguably the least relevant; there are other options to fill in the above attacking roles, butplentyof other Slimes, like the aptly-namedHealslime, who ought to do just as nicely here. You just want to have gone downthe Healer skill tree until you’ve learned Midheal. If you can, shoot forZingas well.

We fused ourHealslimewith aFoo Dog. Weird.
As you can see,we advise an aggressive approach to the Maulosseum Rank E fights. This is because you’ll want to bring down the aforementioned troublemakingdebuffersas soon as possible, and if you bring a party similar in strategy to our own, you should make quick enough work of them to make it through relatively unscathed.
Analysis
With a setup similar to our own,the third round shouldn’t be that challenging, either. Really, the first was the worst for us. And,if you want to make the first round that much easier, consider bringing Stun-inflicting (or Sleep-inflicting) moves of your ownto nix the Awebergine’s and Kisser’s relentless debuff assault.
