Glavenus is a Brute Wyvern inMonster Hunter World: Iceborne. As you investigate the disturbances in the New World caused by Velkhana’s reemergence, new monsters and subspecies will appear and disrupt the balance of their environments.

Glavenus - Strengths And Weaknesses
Glavenus is completelyimmune to Fire damage, and takeslittle damage from the Thunderelement. However, it isweak to Water damage, and itsHead and Backare bothvulnerable to attacks. If you’re able to manage tocut its tail off, you’ll also be at a massive advantage for the remainder of the fight, as itprimarily uses its tail to attack.
All ailments work equally as well against Glavenus, so you won’t necessarily have success with one over another. That said, putting it tosleeporpoisoningit can be good strategies to get some extra damage in.

Best Equipment To Use To Fight Glavenus
Glavenus ismainly weak to Water damage, so we definitely recommend bringing a weapon with this element to the fight. TheJyura weapons, crafted from Jyuratodus materials, are a good choice.
While the best weapon is always the one you’re the most comfortable with, you may want to try out bringing somethingfastagainst Glavenus.Sword and Shield,Longsword, andBoware all good options that will allow you to stay mobile while avoiding Glavenus’s large attacks.

We also recommend using armor withEvade Window. This skill makes it much easier to avoid attacks, allowing you tododge through Glavenus’s tail-swipe attackswithout getting hit.
When you do get hit, you’ll want to havearmor with decent Fire resistance, as this is Glavenus’s main element. TheRathalos armor setprovides good Fire resistance along with a host of other useful skills likeAttack BoostandWeakness Exploit.

TheTemporal Mantleis great for avoiding some of Glavenus’s more difficult attacks, while theFireproof Mantlewill reduce the damage of Glavenu’s Fireblight and Fire-imbued attacks.
Glavenus - Fight Breakdown and Moves
Glavenus is a large monster that uses its massive tail to attack. You can expectlarge, sweeping attackscombined withheavy slam attacksutilizing its tail. However, Glavenus is pretty slow, giving youample time to counterattackafter avoiding its moves.
Glavenus will frequently attack bythrusting its tail forward, dealing a bit of damage. More often than not, Glavenus willrepeat this attack a second time, thrusting its tail forward again. Watch out for this combo of attacks.
Glavenus’s signature attack is tobite its tail, imbuing it with fire. After doing this, all of Glavenus’s tail attacks willdeal more damageandinflict Fireblight, dealingdamage over time. This transformation will also enable it to use alarge spinning attack, where it bites its tail, then, after a moment,swipes its tail twice forward in a large circle, twice, dealing heavy damage.
This attack can be difficult to avoid, even if you know it’s coming. We recommend using theTemporal Mantlehere to ensure you avoid this attack. you may also avoid it byquickly moving behind the monsteranddodging at the right time.
When Glavenus isenraged, itsthroat will glow red, and all of its attacks will be stronger. Additionally, Glavenus can alsoshoot fireballs from its mouth, dealing high damage and inflicting theFireblightailment.
You canknock Glavenus out of its enraged statebyfocusing your attacks on its head and throat. If you attack these parts enough to topple it over, it will becomeun-enragedand its attacks will beweakenedfor a short period of time.
Once you get into the rhythm of avoiding Glavenus’s tail attacks, this fight should become much more manageable. When in doubt,hang back and observe the monsterto learn its attack patterns and range. This will help immensely as the fight progresses.
