Before you’re allowed access to the non-stop fun train that is monster synthesis inDragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, you’ll have to overcome some tricky challenges in the main storyline first. Possibly the most difficult of those challenges is the second arena tournament in Endor Colosseum, which you must beat to access new pastures and new monsters.

While a bit of level grinding is the solution to most of the enemies you’ll find in this battle gauntlet, the third and final battle is nothing to be sniffed at and may force you to think harder about team composition and where you spend your skill points.

Fighting in the Endor Colosseum F Rank in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince

Endor Colosseum F Rank Overview

Entry Fee: 50 Gold Coins

As ever, you’ll have to overcomethree consecutive battlesto call yourself the champion of F Rank.

Flython

Jailcat

The monsters you’ll face here are quite a lot stronger than those fought in the previous category, which means you’ll need to think harder about team composition.

Thefirst two fights have some hard hitters, and since you can’t order your monsters to focus on them exclusively, you’ll need to prepare for them with adedicated healer and possibly a debuffer. We’ll go over potential candidates for those roles when we get to the strategy.

The third battle is the main threat to your success here. TheBag o' Laughshits hard, theJailcatis very tanky, and theFlythonis an absolute menace. This will be the first time you’re up against aLarge monster- they take up more spaces, sure, butthey can act multiple times per turnand their attacks hit harder. The Flython is the biggest threat and likely what you’ll build your team around beating.

How To Beat Endor Colosseum F Rank

To beat this arena, you’ll need to come up with ateam that can take on the Flythonbut isn’t so specialised against the Flython that it cannot cope with thefirst two fights.

The Flython usesPoison Breath(which can inflict Poison on the entire party) andFire Breath(which deals heavy fire damage to your entire party). To deal with these, you’ll want a team that largelyresists fire(or at least isn’t weak to it) and amonster that can use Squelch, which heals the entire party of Poison.

Using Sizz on the arena Flython in Endor Colosseum in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince

Reasoning

Capsichum

Is not weak to fire and can castSquelch. The alternative Squelch caster is Stump Chump, which is weak to fire.

Vegandragora

Is strong against fire and has Sizz, which will deal a ton of damage to the monsters in the second battle. Dazzleflash can also come in clutch.

Antguzzler

Is strong against fire and can potentially reduce a strong enemy’s defence with Helm Splitter.

Bunicorn

Is very strong against fire and can be a surprisingly good attacker. May be able to stun enemies with Heart Breaker.

Slime

Is not weak to fire. Potentially a fast healer in a pinch thanks to access to Heal and high agility.

Dragonthorn

Is very strong against fire and can cast Woosh, which will help in all battles thanks to targeting an entire party.

Our winning party consisted of aCruelcumber(our starter) andDragonthornas attackers, aCapsichumon healing duty, and aVegandragoraset to weaken enemies.

The damage from poison will rack up very quickly, especially if it hits multiple monsters. For that reason, grabbing aCapsichum is highly recommendedabove all other monsters on the list above - being able toremove poisonis just that important. Other than the Capsichum, a mixture of any three of the others should have a good chance at winning the category, though you shouldstrongly consider Vegandragorafor that powerfulSizzspell.

Make sure you’re setting yourTacticsup right!Capsichum and other healers should be set to Focus on Healingwhiledebufferslike a Vegandragora with Dazzleflash or Bunicorn with Sandstorm should beset to Weaken the Enemy.

Being at aroundlevel sevenwill further increase your odds - the increases from individual level ups may seem small but they are significant when dealing with such low-level monsters.

Future Large monsters will reward usingstrong single-target attacks, but you’re able to get by with mostly group-wide attacks at this point in the game.
