Get your tactics set, monsters synthesized, and your best moves enabled: it’s time for the Maulosseum Category C fights inDragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. Each time you pay the entry fee and step into the arena, the fights get tougher, and you’ll need to keep adjusting your strategies.

It’s another three fights like usual, and this time the monsters pack a punch. You’ve got more powerful party-wide moves to deal with and annoying status effects that make it that much tougher to send your opponents packing. Look no further if you want to beat Category C; we’ve got you covered.

Togre

Hypothermion

For Rank C, you’ll want to bring plenty ofstrong magical attackers, particularly those that have learnedmid-tier spells like Splash,Crackle,or Swoosh.

You’ll want your monsters to all be aroundlevel 28 to 30withIce and Water-element attacks, as themajority of enemiesacross all three fights are eitherneutral or weak to oneof those elements.

Several enemies here, such asBloody Hand and Jester Slimelike touse status effects, so havingone monster with Tinglecansave youthe trouble ofwaiting for the effects to go away.

Many of the monsters you’ll be facing also usemid-tierFire and Electricity element attacks, soavoid bringinganymonsters weak to these elementsor else they’ll likely get defeated quickly between the first and second battles alone.

While these battles are more straightforward thanthose in the Colosseum’s Rank C tier, you’ll need to beprepared for the much stronger enemiesin this rank, and going forward. Ensure you’ve got at leasttwo healers with Midheal, onemonster capable of using Kabuff, and somegood synthesized monstersbefore going in.

How To Beat Maulosseum Rank C

Well Being’s Monsters

Well Being brings a team offour monstersthat primarily like to usephysical attacksandfire element moves.

You’ll want toworry about the Dancing Flamethe most, as it carries the mid-levelparty-wide spell Magma Blast, and it will try touse it almost every turnto do a ton of damage, even to monsters that resist fire. It’lllikely go down fast, though, as itdoesn’t have as much healthas its allies.

Most of Well Being’s monstersare normal or weak against Ice, somonsters with Cool Breath or Chilly Breathcan handle them all at once.

Water is the best elementagainst the majority of his team, andusing Splashfrom agreat magical attackerlike a Mandrake Major or a Hypothermion cantake out most of his team in a few turns.

If the Dancing Flame is dead, theonly threatyou’ll really face is theFowl Beast, who likes to take a page from the Boss Troll’s book andcombine Seethe with Hatchet Man.

K1LL4TR0N’s Monsters

While Well Being’s monsters were all offense and little defense, K1LL4TR0N’s team is the opposite:all fourof his monsters havehigh defense and HP stats.

Face Invaderwill be the biggest threat: it’s got thehighest HPof all of his monsters and the strongest attacks. It will generally use basic attacks or go for the party-wide Earthsplitter, so try to take it out with status effects like Sleep or Stun.

Next, try toget rid of the Cyber Slime; it also packs astrong party-wide move, but like the Dancing Flame, itdoesn’t have as much HP.

If you’rehaving trouble with having enough MPduring long fights like against K1LL4TR0N,Drain Magiccan not onlyrestore your MP, buttake MP away from your enemy.

They like tobuff their defenseseven further with Kabuff, so you’ll want tobring a monsterwith thedefense-lowering Kasapspell orattack-buffing Oomph or Oomphleto counter it, and ensure your attacks can still do reasonable damage.

Don’t be fooled by the monster’s appearances either; theCyber Slime and Face Invaderareextremely fastdespite how tanky they are, and canoutspeed monsters above 170 speed.

Hard-Boiled Eggsoskeleton carries Boom, and can do a lot of damage with it, but it thankfullydoesn’t use it often.

Make sure their defenses stay low or youroffenses stay high, and continue touse Ice or Water-element attacks for the best damageagainst K1LL4TR0N’s monsters until they’re all defeated.

Giggle’s Monsters

The monsters that Giggle useslike to do one thingin particular, and that’s using variousmoves capable of confusing your monsters, or giving themother status effects like stun.

They’ll mostly useplain physical attacksagainst you, and both theGrim Keeper and Togrecan do upwards of70 to 80 damage per hit. TheJester Slime is the weakest, but it willusually spawn Kafuddle, and if most of yourparty gets confused, things canquickly go downhill.

Evasion-raising moveslike Dodgy Dance can be handy againstavoiding Kafuddleand Whack.

verify you’regetting your buffs up quickly, especiallyKabuff, so that neither your monsters nor the enemy will be doing as much damage, andwatch out for the Hypothermion: it willoccasionally use Whackto try andkill a monster instantly.

Giggle’s monsterscan’t do very much damage, and this fight isvery much about luck: as long as most of your monsters don’t end up confused or die early to Whack, his team will go down quickly.
