How To Prepare Your Sim’s Home For Pets
Before your Sim adopts a cat or dog,you should firstprepare the home for a petby buying everything they need, so go into Build Mode and search for Pet Care. Here is everything you’ll need for your new pet:

How To Adopt A Pet In The Sims 4
Once you’ve prepared the home for the pet of your choice, it’s now time to adopt!There are two ways to adopta pet via the adoption agency:
A menu will come up showingthe dogs or cats that are currently available, and you may choose toadopt up to three dogs or cats at once.Hover over each animal’s portraitfor more information includingname, age, breed, gender, and whether they’respayed/neutered.
If you don’t like the options before you,close out of the adoption menu,save your game,and then restart. When you go back in and pull up the adoption menu,you’ll have a whole new selectionof pets to choose from.
Make your selections and click the checkmark at the bottom right of the adoption page, and arepresentative from the adoption agencywill show up with the pet for your adoption evaluation. Use this time tointroduce yourself to the animal.
When you’re ready to adopt,click on the pet and choose the ‘Adopt’ option. A menu will pop up asking ifyou’re sure you want to adopt this pet.
Press okay, then choose a name for your pet. Once you’re finished, the adoption fee (200 Simoleons per pet) is paid andthe pet will be added to your household.
How To Adopt A Stray Pet
If your sim lives in the Brindleton Bay neighborhood that comes with the Cat & Dogs expansion,they will sometimes encounter stray cats and dogs. If you would like for your Sim to adopt one of these stray animals,you must first approach the stray with the Friendliest Introduction.
Continue with friendly interactionsuntil you get the option to Offer Friendship,and once you and the stray are friends, you will unlock the ability toadopt the stray and take it home.Unlike formal adoptions, where you pay an adoption fee,you’ll instead receive a small amount of Simoleonsfor adopting a stray.
If you’re having a hard time finding stray dogs, travelto the island where the Deadgrass Discoveries museum is, and wait a little while. Eventually, a few stray dogs should start showing up.
How To Adopt A Ghost Pet
On Deadgrass Island, you can findghost dogs or ghost cats due to the nearby pet cemetery.If you’d like tobring one of these specters into your home, there aretwo ways to adopt them.
Invite Ghost Pet Into Your Household
Ghost animals will appear sometime after midnightin oraround the area of the cemetery on Deadgrass Island,and to adopt one, you must first befriend them. Just like any other Sim or pet,have your Sim interact with the pet by playing with it, giving it a treat, playing fetch(if you have a ball), and various other activities.
Once you get your friendship level up to Good Friends, the option toInvite To Household should appear on the interaction menu. Click that, and theghost pet will be added to your household.
Resurrect Ghost Pet
Do you want to adopt a ghost pet butdon’t want them to stay a ghost pet?You can resurrect them! First, you mustvisit a pet hospitaland purchase anAmbrosia Pet Treatfrom the vending machine for 2,500 Simoleons.
Then, when you find the ghost pet you wish to take home, interact with them andchoose the option to Give Ambrosia Treat. This will resurrect them into living pets and immediately add them to your household.
