There are some games that will be remembered forever because of the impact that they’ve had on the industry. The originalDoomfits into this category because it really helped popularise the first-person shooter genre.
It will also be hard to forget because the game has never really gone away since its initial release in 1993. It has continually been re-released on newer systems. As a result, it feels like every platform capable of playing games has had a port of Doom. Naturally, that is not actually the case, but there have been many ports. Here is exactly how many there have been.

Doom Has Been Ported To 25 Platforms
Since its initial release, Doom hasbeen ported to 25 other platforms. This doesn’t include the original MS-DOS version since that doesn’t technically count as a port. This is alsoonly referring to officially licensed ports. There are many unlicensed ones due to the release of the Doom source code in the late ’90s. It’s impossible to know how many of those exist, though.
Every official port waseither the original Doom or The Ultimate Doom version. Both of them count, as the latter is just a slightly upgraded version of the same game.

The title has landed on many different types of platforms. It can be played on PC, console, and mobile. Originally, the PC versionmade it onto several different operating systems. Yet, most of them are no longer around.
When it comes to consoles, the gamehasn’t stuck to one family of systems. It’s been on consoles made by Sega, Atari, Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Panasonic’s 3DO. Technically, it hasn’t been ported to the Xbox Series X|S or the PS5. Yet, you can play the Xbox One and PS4 versions on those systems due to backward compatibility.
The original Xbox version doesn’t come alone. Instead, it’s part of the Doom 3 Collector’s Edition. There is a similar situation for the PS3 port as it’s in the Doom 3 BFG edition. Both still count towards the total number.
What doesn’t count is the version of Doom that is playable inside Doom Eternal. After all, Doom Eternal is a game, not a system.
Doom Has Been Ported To 13 Consoles
Out of the 25 platforms Doom has been ported to,13 of them are consoles.
Thefirst of these was the Sega Genesis 32X in 1994. The latest ones were on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4, which occurred in 2019 as part of the 25th anniversary of the game.
Only one of the consoles that can officially play Doom is a handheld system. This is the GameBoyAdvance. Its version of the game has some pretty significant censoring, but from a technical standpoint, it holds up to the others and functions better than some.
