Final Fantasy 16told a complete story from beginning to end when it launched in June 2023, but plenty of RPGs - Final Fantasy games absolutely included - offer opportunities to venture off the beaten path and experience entirely separate tales. Echoes of the Fallen, FF16’s first of two big DLCs, is one such example. Centering on the mysterious race of beings destroyed long before Clive’s era, Echoes sends players up a sprawling tower called the Sagespire.
Climbing that tower isn’t easy, but it’s richly rewarding, both in treasure and the sheer spectacle of the fights themselves. How long will it take to reach the top, though? Here’s what we’ve found.

How Long Does It Take To Beat Echoes Of The Fallen?
Echoes of the Fallen doesn’t just toss you into the Sagespire out of nowhere. To start it, you must be just prior Final Fantasy 16’s final conflict, with the main quest’Back to Their Origin’on your queue. So long as you’ve fulfilled the sidequest requirements to get both Jill and Joshua in Clive’s party, a cutscene should be triggered while you’re poking around at your main hub. This triggers a string cutscenes that’ll run for about half an hour, maybe a hair less, before you’re in control and at the base of the dungeon tower.
HowLongToBeat clocks the entire experience at aroundthree hours in length, and it’s surely combat-centric. Bits of lore about the titular Fallen will pop up over the course of the quest, and don’t get us wrong, it’s interesting stuff. But following the cutscene barrage which unlocks the Sagespire, it’s about two-and-a-half hours to the peak.
Once you’re there, you’ll come face to face with a powerful foe, and upon its defeat, Echoes will come to a close. If you consider the time it’d take you to make the ascent again on Final Fantasy mode, presuming, of course, that you aren’t already on this more challenging version of FF16’s battles made available solely through New Game Plus, thenyou can add another three hours to the clock. But really, we feel like that’s cheating, you know? Might as well say Final Fantasy 16’s main story takes around 80 hours instead of 40!
If you’re still on the fence about whether to fetch Echoes of the Fallen,we’ve gone into the pros and cons. The short answer is, yes! Just know what you’re getting into; The Rising Tide will be the more narrative-centric of the two DLCs when it arrives.
