The surface inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis riddled with caves. Some of these caves are quite tiny, while others involve a large underground network that covers a lot of area. With all these caves, it’s easy to lose track of them all.
Here, we are going to answer the big question; how many caves are there in Tears of the Kingdom? This isn’t as simple as it seems though, as many caves are small little passages that don’t provide any reward. Because of this, we will first look at caves that contain Bubbulfrogs, which eachprovide one Bubbul Gem.

How Many Bubbulfrog Caves Are In Hyrule?
Larger caves will contain Bubbulfrogs, which are giant glowing frogs that often hang from the ceiling. you may often seeBlupees(rabbit-like creatures) around the entrance of caves that have a Bubbulfrog inside.
In total, there are 147 Bubbulfrogs, which means that you can find 147 large caves in Hyrule. These caves typically involve a bit of exploration, and have a few extra goodies inside, such as resources or chests.

Are There Caves In The Depths And Sky Islands?
There are no caves in The Depths,as the area is basically one giant cave. However, there are a few caves in the sky, which canall be found on the Great Sky Island.
These four caves all have Bubbulfrogs, so they arecounted towards the 147 caves mentioned above.

Small Caves In Hyrule
It’s nearly impossible to calculate the total number of caves in Hyrule, butit’s believed that there are around 400 spread throughout Hyrule. On the map, many small passages count as caves.
It’s also important to note that on the map,the little cave icon marks entrances. This means that if a cave has two entrances, then it will look like two cave icons on the map. Many caves have more than one entrance, so there are way more cave icons on the map than actual caves.

Do Wells Count As Caves?
When you drop down into a well, you will most likely be in a very cave-like area. These technically don’t count as caves, unless a cave branches off from the main area of the well. For example, some wells have an underground chamber with no passages or hidden areas; these are not caves.
If, on the other hand, a passage stemmed from the main chamber, you are near a cave with a well entrance.
