If there’s one genre of games that has become synonymous with incredibly epic boss fights, it is Soulsborne games. Loaded with all sorts of powerful enemies, these games are often defined by how memorable and challenging these fights are.
The games that the genre draws inspiration from are the Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring. These games are loaded with all sorts of difficult bosses, each one with a unique attack pattern and devastating special attacks, making practically every fight a battle to the death, often a battle to multiple deaths. But just how many boss fights are there in each Soulsborne game are there?
Most Soulsborne games have optional bosses, mini-bosses, and even fights with multiple bosses at once, so depending on who you ask, the number of bosses in each game can change.

There Are 22 Bosses In The Original Dark Souls
The first game in the Dark Souls trilogy developed by FromSoftware under the tutelage of Hidetaka Miyazaki,Dark Soulsbrought you to the land of Lordran,an ancient kingdom where the gods walk among mortals. The world has been failing though, subjecting humans to an undead curse, symbolized by the Darksign, condemning them to continuously resurrect them after each death until they lose themselves in a process called hollowing.
Overcoming the curse involves defeating legendary foes, collecting their souls, and healing the curse, or letting the land fall to ruin. Along this journey,there are 22 bosses to face, though only 13 are mandatory. If you add in the DLC expansions, it brings the grand total up to 26 bosses in the original Dark Souls.

Diverging from some of the established mechanics found in Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 is a unique entry in the Soulsborne genre. Deep within the fallen kingdom of Drangleic, you are sent on a quest by the Emerald Herald to acquire four Great Souls to rekindle the flames of the kingdom.
Along the way, there are countless enemies to battle, along with stronger foes to vanquish. Getting to the end of Dark Souls 2 requires you to beat 32 main bosses in Drangleic, with an additional nine found in the various DLCs.

Deep within the Gothic city of Yharnam, a different kind of Soulsborne game was born,Bloodborne. Gone is the classic adventures of knights and wizards, and instead, fast-paced story of blood and trick weapons. When the city falls to constant use of medication crafted from the blood of cosmic beings, the Hunter arrives to fight against the madness infecting the city.
In order to complete the game, you have to fight your way through 18 bosses, though only seven of them are mandatory to get to the final boss and one is hiding deep in the Chalice Dungeons where many players won’t ever find her. With the addition of The Old Hunters DLC, a massive addition to the game, you get a total of 23 bosses in Bloodborne.
3Dark Souls 3

The world of Dark Souls 3 is collapsing in on itself. The world sits on the brink of destruction after the ones who were supposed to rekindle the first flame abandoned their responsibilities and left the world to rot. With the last embers of the First Flame flicker, up rises those who once failed to link the flames, giving the fire one last chance to sustain itself.
In order to force the Lords back to their duties, you have to conquer the 19 bosses of Dark Souls 3, and if you want to complete everything in the game, the additional six bosses in the two DLCs, bringing thegrand total up to 25 bosses in Dark Souls 3.

Another unique entry in the Soulsborne genre,Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,follows Wolf, a shinobi who fails to protect his lord and must take on entire armies in order to rescue his ward and then break a curse of immortality before even more wars are waged in seek of the power.
Sekrio is a little different from other Soulsborne games on this list in that there are tons of mini-bosses in the game, 29 in total, leading to plenty of debate around the actual number of bosses in the game. In total, there are 13 bosses in Sekiro, with only six of them required to beat the game.
1Elden Ring

As you wander across the Lands Between, a realm that demigods have ruined in fighting over theElden Ring, a manifestation of great power, you are on a journey to repair the world by recovering the pieces of the Elden Ring and repairing it. Elden Ring is distinct from the other games by being an open world game with a staggering 238 bosses, and the number that is sure to increase with the release of the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
There is plenty of debate about this number, as only 165 enemies in the game have health bars, the usual indicator that the fight you’re in is a boss fight, while there are plenty of unique and special characters and monsters that don’t get their own health bar. Even so, the vast majority of bosses in Elden Ring are completely optional, making it so you really only need to beat 13 bosses to beat the game and even then, the number is a little flexible.
