Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has the largest roster of weapons out of any recent Call of Duty title, although many of the weapons in MW3 were ported from 2022’s MW2. While this large roster of weapons and gadgets might be fantastic for veteran players, those who skipped MW2 might find the selection of weapons to be daunting.
Fortunately, there is a new progression system introduced in MW3 that makes unlocking specific weapons and perks far easier. In this guide, we’ll go over what Armory Unlocks are, how they work, and recommend a few items you should unlock as soon as possible.
What Are Armory Unlocks?
Many of Modern Warfare 3’s weapons and equipment don’t unlock through traditional player levels. Instead, they are unlocked by completing a series of challenges called Armory Unlocks.Armory Unlocks become available starting at Level 25 and can be viewed from the “Challenges” tab of the start menu.These challenges can unlock virtually any item in Modern Warfare 3—weapons, attachments, killstreaks, perks, and notably Aftermarket Parts.
The Armory Unlock menu lists 58 challenges in total,although this doesn’t include weapon attachments which can have their Armory Challenges selected from the Gunsmith menu. It’s worth noting thatsome of these Armory Unlock challenges can also be unlocked byplaying Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ).For example, Semtex Grenades are normally tied to the Armory Unlock system, but if you extract in MWZ with Semtex in your inventory, it’ll become a usable item in core Multiplayer.Focus on completing challenges for Aftermarket Parts and perks,as weapons and equipment can be earned much faster by playing MWZ.
Completing Armory Challenges
Every Armory Unlock in Modern Warfare 3 requires you tocomplete a set number of daily challenges in Multiplayer.You can view your daily challenges from the Multiplayer menu at the left-hand side of your screen.Three daily challenges are generated each day. Complete those three challenges, and a fourth repeatable daily will become available until the daily reset (05:00 UTC).The repeatable challenge will always be “Win a Multiplayer match.”
Any Daily Challenges you’ve completed before Level 25 willnotretroactively count. attempt to avoid completing Daily Challenges until you’ve unlocked the Armory Unlock system.
Each Daily Challenge you complete will slowly fill the progress meter on one of the Armory Unlock challenges, completing items in the “All” tab sequentially.You can pick which unlocks you want to progress by opening the Armory Unlocks menu and queuing the challenges you wish to complete first.You can queue up to three challenges at a time. Any challenge can be queued when you unlock this system; there are no level restrictions.
What To Unlock First
While the Armory Unlock system grants a ton of flexibility in unlocking new items,there are a few items that can only be obtained through this system, and there are a few perks tied to Armory Unlocks that you’ll want to access as soon as possible. Here are a few items we recommend unlocking first:
The only items wedo not recommend unlocking are weapons and equipment.Almost all of these items can be earned by extracting them in MWZ. You can easily earn your desired weapon through the Mystery Box or wall buys, and lethal/tacticals are scattered all across Urzikstan.
