One of this year’s biggest titles,Hogwarts Legacy, will not feature at The Game Awards in any way, shape, or form this year, after having been voted out of contention for the show’s Player’s Voice award earlier today.

The Game Awards nominations for Player’s Voice were revealed last month, giving communities who feel their game has been overlooked by the main awards a chance for them to get some recognition and a bit of silverware. Hogwarts Legacy was one such title, which hasn’t been nominated for a single award during this year’s show, much to the surprise and annoyance of Potter fans across the globe.

Player’s Voice was an opportunity for Hogwarts Legacy to actually show up during The Game Awards later this week, but despite a renewed attempt from fans to get it there, it hasn’t managed to crack the top five of the Player’s Voice awards. Announced byThe Game Awards' official Twitter accountearlier today, the nominations for Player’s Voice areBaldur’s Gate 3(of course),The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, andGenshin Impact.

You may remember that Genshin Impact was the Player’s Voice winner last year, havingwaged a war against Sonic fans for top spot. Truly horrifying stuff.

Even though fans wanted it to happen, we probably shouldn’t be surprised that Hogwarts Legacy has missed out, especially after the year we’ve just had, in which quality titles were dropped almost every week. It just means that Hogwarts Legacy didn’t make as much of a splash as fans like to believe it did, lacking the longevity and cultural impact of a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 or Tears of the Kingdom. Yes, it sold well, but it wasalwaysgoing to sell well based on the brand alone.

Hogwarts Legacy players shouldn’t feel too alone though, as it’s not the only massive RPG that’s performed poorly during this year’s Player’s Voice award.Starfieldwasknocked out of the running long before Hogwarts Legacy was, a game that is only becoming more and more controversial as time passes. It may have been nominated for best RPG, but Starfield developersarguing with negative reviews on Steamand being up against the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 means that Bethesda is probably about to have a Game Awards to forget.
