A Foxian Tale of the Haunted is a Trailblaze Continuance inHonkai: Star Railthat can be done after finishing the main story of the Xianzhou Luofu. In this quest, you get to tag along with a bunch of characters like Guinaifen, Huohuo, Hanya, and Xueyi to find the truth behind the ghost stories.
As you enter the Fyxestroll Garden area during this quest, you’ll learn that some flying spirits called Heliobi are causing all the commotion on the Luofu, and you’ll be tasked to seal them from all over the planet. However, it’s also important to understand what these creatures are.
Heliobi, Explained
When you first enter Fyxestroll Garden and meet Xueyi, Hanya, and Huohuo, you get to know the basic things about Heliobi. These creatures aredangerous energy parasites that can be found all over the cosmos. These Starfire Essences can be seen as a strange fire that is attracted to human emotions like a moth to a flame.
Hanya also mentions that these creatures cannot be destroyed, and theonly way to contain them is by suppressing and sealing them away. This was done inside the Creation Furnace in the Artisanship Commission, but they escaped and ran all over The Xianzhou Luofu when the furnacetook damage in the main quest.
You also learn that the Ten-Lord Commission ispreparing a barrier to seal all the Heliobiin Fyxestroll Garden.
However, since the barrier isn’t finished yet, these arerunning rampant all across the Luofu.
After that, you enter a domain where you learn the true reason behind the existence of these Heliobi on the Luofu. This goes way back to when a person namedTeng Xiao was the general, and he was greeted by a Heliobi called Ignamar. It was a time of fierce battle, and Ignamar offered his aid to the general since his situation was dire.
Eventually, there was a fierce battle between Ignamar and Teng Xiao that lasted for many days, but theHeliobi was eventually defeated because of the infighting. After the battle, Ignamar scattered into various fragments that were sealed inside the furnace, and the same fragments are now haunting the Luofu.
One of the first Heliobi we get to meet is Cirrus, and shetakes control of the Trailblazer to get out of a maze created by Furynox. She’s the one who mentioned that different Heliobi can’t stay together for too long because they start resenting each other, which leads to infighting. She also mentions that Heliobi were innocent beings at first.
However, they werecorrupted when they came in contact with the humans due to their heavy emotionsand experiences. Once you take Cirrus' help to defeat Furynox, she’ll turn into the main villain who forces her way to have a duel against the Luofu’s general again. Thankfully,history repeats itself as Jing Yuan takes the victory.
Every Heliobi On The Xianzhou Luofu
Heliobi are shown in a negative light from the start of the quest, butnot all of them want to consume a human’s emotions in a negative manner. This was proven as we met various Heliobi during the main and side quests of A Foxian Tale of the Haunted:
Description
Luxie
The Heliobi thatpossessed Bailu, Luxie is a mischievous Heliobi that cares aboutnothing except their own entertainment and freedom. However, they’re quite childish, which is exactly why they chose Bailu.
Chess Ghost
This is one of the first Heliobi you meet, and they possess anyone who loses to them in thePathfinder game. However, itturns out that the people they possess are actually the winners, and this creature is just a sore loser.
Caiyi
This is the first Heliobi contradiction of the negative image. They take the form of a Starskiff and roam around Luofu tofind people who are mourning for someone closeand pretend to be that person for them.
While this might not be the best thing, the Heliobiseemed to actually care about the mourning people.
Keralum
Being in charge of predicting the past and future with Ignamar, Keralum isstrong enough to even possess the master diviner Fu Xuan. This is likely the smartest Heliobi on the Luofu.
Ruoxi
At first, it seemed like this Heliobi was manipulating a human intothinking they’re the loved one that the human lost years ago. However, the reality was that the human wasn’t being betrayed, and they were intentionally together.
In the end, you get to pick ifyouwant to let them be together or seal the Heliobi.
Stafyre
This Heliobi is quite arrogant and goes around the Luofumaking some pink flames to haunt the area. However, they don’t have much else about them.
Apyra
The Heliobi that possessed Yanqing, Apyra is the most aggressive Heliobi among all the fragments of Ignamar, andthey are known for riling their prey into battle.
Singerd
This is another direct contradiction of the negative image since their main goal was todeliver a final message from one sister to another.
Burnie
This is a tired Heliobus who was apparently tricked intostayinginside a locked chestfor a long time. They accept their fate without any complaints once they’re free.
Mr. Tail
Mr. Tail is the main character of the Heliobi who first sacrifices themself to save Huohuo and her friends, and thengoes into Huohuo’s consciousness tosave her from another Heliobi later.
Arkeri
Arkeri is the last Heliobi you get to meet, and you find them hidden inside March’s camera. Theydon’t seem to possess any desire to control a human or eat them awaylike other creatures.
This shows how Heliobi can have various personalities even though they’re just spirits roaming the cosmos. You even get thechoice to seal Arkeri or let them go.
